Remember tomorrow had already been released with Bruce. Sanctuary, Running Free, Phantom of the Opera and Iron Maiden were on Live After Death. Transylvania didn't need recording with Bruce and hardly anyone seems to remember Strange World exists. Hence Prowler and Charlotte the Harlot
Sadly not all that familiar with them, I've never really finished getting into Bruce's solo stuff, but if you say they're better than TOAD than that's reason enough for me to check them out.

Bearing in mind I know very little about this, it seems to me that Bruce has been hitting the highest notes with more ease post-cancer, but at the expense of how clean the sound is, hence some of the Abe Simpson comparisons. For some songs it sounds better, others less so. I'd take the LotB...

Joking of course, I am biased in that regard (as a drummer), and yes, that aside, most of Maiden's 80's albums do sound great.
Sounds awesome a lot of the time to be honest.
