    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

By the time the reunion happened, I was still supporting Maiden, but had 'moved on' in terms of intently focusing/listening to other bands. VXI was so uninspired that I thought it was the end. Listening to BNW for the first time was like having old friends come over for dinner. The build up...

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

I am pretty sure that Steve mentioned that he would have gotten rid of Adrian first if the reunion didn't work with BNW. He has always highly valued Janick. Steve values two basic things at the end of the day: Reliability and loyalty. Janick has both in spades.

    Tom Petty

RIP Tom Petty. He's not metal, but was a icon in rock. I remember spending a lot of time listening to Full Moon Fever after listening to Seventh Son. SSOASS used to pump me up and satisfy my nerdy D&D metal side, but Full Moon Fever was my 'chill-out at the end of the day' record.

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

There is a lot of irony in him boasting about his "British-ness" whilst doing it from the confines of his tropical mansion. I thought I read that, aside from touring/business obligations, the only other time he visits the UK is during Christmas for family.

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

I don't think TRATB will come back as it takes up a lot of setlist space (which is becoming more crowded with each subsequent album). With a few exceptions, the album epics usually don't come back unless it's a special tour.

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

There has always been a very subtle/slight cheese factor with Maiden that's never really bothered me...but Raising Hell just pushed it into full blown Spinal Tap territory. What made it worse is that the band seemed to think that it was legitimately bad-ass.

Interview with Bruce from 1986 discussing infamous Alexander the Great solo

This. C'mon... Janick makes up random solos every night on stage (Adrian doesn't always play note for note either). It's got nothing to do with solos IMHO. This isn't an Adrian thing. This is a Steve thing. He was always quite proud of his 80s epics, but has largely remained silent on ATG...

    Best Live "Survivor" Songs

The studio version of IM is pretty uneventful. It's way better live. NOTB and Hallowed sound great live most of the time. RTTH, however, never really does it for me live due to Steve and Adrian's backing vocals.

    Official Football Thread

I have to gripe about the way football is broadcast in the US. The American commentators attempt to call the game like an NFL game (incessant talking about everything and anything, combined with a never-ending litany of statistics).

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

I think the only real way that deep/never-been-played-before cuts will ever make it into the setlist is if Steve has a sudden urge to cross something off of his 'artistic bucket list' or if Rod has an idea to monetize it. With 16 albums, the propensity to push the new material, and having at...

I'm actually fairly content with the news. Trevorrow scared the daylights out of me simply because he generated nothing of significant acclaim other than a decent yet forgettable summer popcorn flick with Jurassic World. It seemed incredibly risky for Disney to entrust the final chapter of...

Bands with potential that they never fulfilled

Cinderella suffers from a lame name/image, but they were the best hair band IMO. Long Cold Winter is still one of my favorites from the 80s. Love the Aerosmith meets ACDC sound.

Bands with potential that they never fulfilled

I was throwing VH in as they were one of the few that prospered in both eras (at least in the States). They were still going platinum and headlining arena at the same time that everyone was going crazy for Alice in Chains and Nine Inch Nails. Right now was a massive hit. GNR had the same...

Things about Iron Maiden that annoy you

Adrian's inventory of stage moves has actually increased since the 80s. He does the occasional bunny hop, the side to side sway, and his "guitar solo orgasm" face has gotten more pronounced

Bands with potential that they never fulfilled

GNR always frustrated me because they completely squandered their advantage of 'avoiding the hair metal stigma' - they were one of the few bands that prospered in both the hair/alternative eras (Van Halen and Aerosmith being the others). I still remember Illusion cuts like estranged being in...
