I Learned Everthing I Ever Needed To Know From Heavy Metal

I learned to not fear the Reaper (ok, not heavy metal, I know) I learned what religion is to man (oh wait, no I didn't, won't someone tell me?) I learned that I shall triumph by the steel of my axe (DoomSword). I definitely learned that illuminati have come to take control... however, they...

    Jupz's Top 50!

Agree with everyone here, thanks be to Jupz! Incredibly interesting reading, definitely spurred on some good discussions, and even if I didn't agree with everything, I think there was a lot to commend in there. Definitely like our shared love of the Longest Day! :ok:

Maiden songs you are currently stuck on

Underrated classic is right! Like most of the DoD album. Come join us in the DoD bunker where we have much more than one drink and still wander through the everglades, looking for the age of innocence that is fading into a new frontier.

    The 2011 Tour Thread! (SPOILERS)

He did the same thing at Brisbane Soundwave, February 26. I thought it was impromptus... oh, actually, he said "sorry officer"...

Maiden songs you are currently stuck on

Awesome selection to be stuck on, having seen this list I'm going to be stuck on it now too. I've been lately stuck on the live version (from Death on the Road) of Paschendale... Bruce's harmonies at the end are beyond fabulous.

Best Iron Maiden album song that was never played live

Re: GAME: Best Iron Maiden album song that was NEVER played live - Round 2 Iron Maiden is pretty bad, I'll admit... ok, you got me with Drifter. Let's say worst album closer with Bruce...

Best Iron Maiden album song that was never played live

Re: GAME: Best Iron Maiden album song that was NEVER played live - Round 2 hear hear, mother russia is going to get my vote at some point too. Big fan of NPFTD but think it's the worst album closer... apart from the Legacy  :innocent:

Best Iron Maiden album song that was never played live

Re: GAME: Best Iron Maiden album song that was NEVER played live - Round 2 Fates Warning, Fear is the Key, the Nomad This is a great game, thanks for hosting. I think Nomad is going to stick around, but lord I hate that song. I'm with Forostar and think IOA/Starblind might be tops, along with...

Best Iron Maiden album song that was never played live

Re: GAME: Best Iron Maiden album song that was NEVER played live - Round 1 Yep, I effed this one up - chose the three I'd like to see MOST. Could NOT figure out why there was so much love for FotD crap songs until I figured it out. I WANT to see Run Silent Run Deep Montsegur Thin Line Between...

    Jupz's Top 50!

Fabulous review and love the fact that it's this high for you. It's one of my favourites too, and I think it equals Paschendale (obviously in a very different way). I also think it's an overlooked gem, given that AMOLAD has so many.  :ok: from me, definitely a top 10. A song I could never get...

Maiden songs you are currently stuck on

Been very into Powerslave lately... never thought it was one of their best but I'm definitely enjoying it more these days. Also Caught Somewhere in Time... just so damn catchy, makes me wanna boogie.  :yey: And of course, still, Dance of Death. Man, that song will NEVER get old. :edmetal:

Black Sabbath Survivor finished: on and on and on...

I think many of the changes this year can be attributed to the fact that not "actual" Black Sabbath songs are in the top 10 (as opposed to "Heaven and Hell")? Of course HnH is actual Sabbath, as a Sabbath by any other name would still rock as hard....

Maiden songs you are currently stuck on

:ok: Yep, I don't think there's any filler on DoD - I think it's solid all the way through, and Age of Innocence is a really good song that once again showcases Maiden's versatility.

    Jupz's Top 50!

Agree on Still Life as well, though not my #1 - definitely top 10 for me, though, and I agree that it defines the band. Took them to a new level on the POM album.

Isle of Avalon (because of all the love it's gotten on this forum) and Paschendale are in heavy rotation for me now, as is (still) Dance of Death.

    Jupz's Top 50!

Really glad to see Clairvoyant make your top 20. It's my top 3, probably tied with the Prisoner for Number 1 actually.

The Final Frontier and Somewhere in Time

I think SIT was a very prog-type album, similar to TFF, and SIT also inspires incredible passion on both sides (love or hate), much like SIT. Lyrically some of the themes are the same - don't always waste your time with wasted years, it's ok, I've lived my life to the full, I have no regrets.

Songs you want Maiden to cover.

Agree entirely! In addition to the descending riff, could you imagine Bruce making it sound like these are the most evil sheep ever?  :edmetal:

    Other's Maiden Blasphemy?

I love Passschendale, but it's not in my top 10 either (I like it a lot more now than I did when I first heard it). However, this is the BEST description of the song I've ever heard. "kinda messy." Braaaaaaaaaaa-VO.
