Yeah, there's another one that I think we can chalk up to them just not listening to studio recordings before rehearsing. Phantom's on the setlist, they all know their parts and off they go.
Aside from some occasionally lazy solos Dave's playing is just fine, that wasn't the point I was making. I'm saying that looking towards the longevity of the band I just wouldn't be surprised if Nicko being too old isn't the thing that causes them to retire from touring - it's not fat shaming to...
Hey guys! This is kind of the flip side of the musical cues that you love thread but with an eye specifically to things that they change or omit during live performances that are a bit of a head scratcher considering that they've got 3 guitarists. I'll start off with a few:
1) Powerslave - no...
This isn't a musical thing but I'm genuinely concerned about Dave letting himself slip dangerously close to obesity . Everyone talks about Nicko being the oldest member and the linchpin deciding when the band will call it quits but it seems like Dave's fitness level is noticeably deteriorating...
AMOLAD is tied with Mastodon's Crack The Skye for my favourite album of all time, that being said I feel like the live version played on the Stockholm bootleg is superior to the album version. The little live-isms here and there that they do after they've had some time with material always...
Hmmm, I can't think of any material off of AoB or TCW that would require a CGCFAD tuned 6 string guitar; I can't think of any song off the top of my head which would be in the key of C.
Perhaps while recording TCW he used a Dean specially set up in 6 string -- perhaps AGCFAD or AEADGB in order...
I'm referencing the live performances, not the studio recordings. Live, they used their Drop D guitars (the ones they used on songs like Book Of Thel and Darkside of Aquarius) while using a BOSS Octaver pedal, as confirmed boy Roy Z.

Going back to the Accident Of Birth & Chemical Wedding tours, Adrian played a Jackson King V for the songs they played in Drop D and Drop D with an octave down effect (King In Crimson, Trumpets of Jericho).
This is a bit out of the scope of the current discussion but I have to say that one of my hopes for the next Maiden album is that they completely remove all limiters on what Maiden "should be" -- use 7 string guitars on a couple songs, tune down below drop D, experiment more! Less clean...
Of course there are reasons, in some cases maybe one or more people in the band just don't like certain songs. I'm sure no one is itching to bust out Quest For Fire lol
Adrian "admitting" that he doesn't know how to play like that any more is just probably a bit of self-depreciating humour and a way to brush aside the likely annoying questions about why X song isn't being played on Y tour.
The band is comprised of professional musicians, and as you said this...
It seems that he's using the X-stroyer for the songs he plays in Drop D on this tour -- aside from If Eternity Should Fail, which he plays with his white signature model, perhaps for the Floyd Rose. Fantastic thread btw, love it!
Are there seriously people who don't realize that the "Adrian can't remember the solo" remark was entirely tongue in cheek? That gets thrown around a lot and while I'm sure some people use it as the joke it was intended to be, others I'm not so sure. These people are professional musicians and...
I struggled with the AMOLAD levels too, having a level 60 3 star normal Eddie and beefed up talismans -- until I changed my allies.
The blue allied soldier was the key. Have him do his defense & reflect buff at the start of every fight, and renew it when it wears off. In between casting that...
Does anyone know what's up with this? For the last I'd say 6 or so months at least those two videos have been missing in action. Did the BBC have them taken down? Are they available for viewing elsewhere?
Thanks!
