Even though I wrote some harsh words the album has really grown on me in the last few days. I just think that I understand its philosophy better now, it is a more difficult album than TBOS (which was basically pure, classic Maiden despite its length).

Awful beyond belief number. 54k ? Maybe the idea of a Powerslave 2 , that a certain forum member has a fixation to constantly mock, wouldnt have been bad afterall. Instead we got songs inspired from country music and the X-Factor, well these are the results....
TBOS just continued the trend of every post-reunion album doing better than the previous, it didn’t do anything special. TFF did better than AMOLAD too, for example.
Honestly all these things are excuses. Maiden have had no issues doing better with each new album at the age of internet so , no, streaming didn’t play such a big role. The overall number of Senjutsu compared to TBOS is vastly lower which means less people bought it or streamed it or whatever.
What gets me the most is how this album has zero explosive parts, none. It is either mid-tempo or slooooow. TBOS was over 90 minutes long and yet the songs were full of explosive parts, of bursts of energy.
People like to consider DOD or TFF worse but I don’t see a something like Isle of...
Worst post reunion album by far. Lifeless, joyless, missing any kind of heaviness, badly sounding. TBOS would have been a much better swansong. Extremely sad that this will probably be the last Maiden album.
If it had a decent production it would have been a masterpiece. I can’t believe how thin it sounds. Saw them live during the tour for that album and the songs sounded like sonic juggernauts live. Such a shame the studio versions sound so weak. Most, if not all, songs are great.
