    Iced Earth

That's great to hear. In U.S. Framing Armageddon is at 180 something, and that's impressive here for a non-mainstream metal band. That's why I've started following the UK charts instead. I'm glad to see that Europe still gives metal the respect it deserves.

    Iced Earth

I finally bought Framing Armageddon about a week ago. I don't think I've ever seen cooler album art.

    Best Murray/Harris Song

My vote goes to Still Life. Lyrically it's one of Maiden's best, and it has that beautiful yet aggressive quality that I love about Maiden.

    Best Smith/ Harris Track

Paschendale for me. I don't think any explanation is necessary.

Best song whose title is all short words

I have to go with The evil That Men Do. I don't even know what's I love so much about it, or Seventh Son in general, but the album and that song especially have an unexplainably majestic quality to them. To Tame a Land is a very close second. The music is second to none but as a huge fan of...

    Iron Man - the Movie

I can't wait for the movie now. Downey seems to capture Tony Stark perfectly: cool, sophisticated, witty, and just enough of an asshole to make him memorable. I knew they'd use the Black Sabbath song but I wasn't expecting it to work so well. I've never been too big a comic book fan, but Iron...

Wow, a brilliant song. July Morning deserves the title of greatest song of the 70s, but only on the technicality that Child in Time was writen in 1969.

Iran, It's ruled by a popularly elected president, whereas Saudi Arabia is a monarchy, North Korea is a dictatorship, and the Pope is elected internally.

    A Canadian's take on September 11th.

For a long time I've wondered about the future of post-9/11 America. While only time will tell for sure, I have a feeling that neoconservatism and the xenophobic "America first" mentality it has produced are very much a passing phase that the American people want to wash their hands of. As for...

    Favourite Ballad

Blood brothers is my favourite Maiden ballad, it has more emotional substance than the others in my opinion, though Out of the Shadows and Wasting Love come dangerously close.

    Favorite Maiden Recurring Theme

While mythology, literature, and religious have made for some excellent songs, I think Iron Maiden has absolutely mastered writing songs about war more than any other band. The Longest Day, These Colours Don't Run, Fortunes of War, Paschendale, The Aftermath, Face in the Sand, and Aces High all...

    One word: AWESOME!

It's Revelations for me, though Paschendale is a very close second. The lyrics and dark, progressive, yet beautiful feel of the song but it above the rest for me.

    Best title track

I have to go with Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. The guitar-work and overall feel of the track are the epitome of epic.

    Three in a row.

I'll go with Brave New world - Dance of Death - A Matter of life and death. I think this is Maiden's most consistently good run of albums, though Piece of Mind - Powerslave - Somewhere in Time comes dangerously close. This is one of the more interesting topics psted in a while.

Not the same band... Not the same music!

I think it's a quality unique to Maiden, Priest, and a small handful handful of other bands. There's an excellent variety and consistent quality between Maiden's albums, but I that's what it takes to stay influential, popular, and relevant for over 25 years. I have my favorite albums like anyone...

Men = Women ?? Not always...

I think chivalry is perfectly compatible with today's society. Chivalry is only seen as sexist because it was practiced during sexist times. Chivalry is based on the principle of having an obligation to help others whenever possible. There's no reason why this idea needs to be paired with sexist...

Best song with title whose words are in alphabetical order

Fortunes of War for me. A beautifully deep song with some excellent guitar and bass.

    NOW READING

Just finished Remarque's Heaven Has No Favorites. It's a beautiful and believable love story about cheating death with some brilliant philosophy behind it. Of the books of his that I've read, I'd say it's second only to A Time to Love and a Time to Die. I've just started Tree Comrades, one of...

Do you suffer from iTunes-ADD? (aka. my irrational music pet-peeve)

I think people do it mostly because they can't find the right song to match their current mood. It's not so much a matter of liking  the song as the song fitting that particular moment. Some days I feel impatient and just want to hear a certain riff or lyric, then move on to the next song. Long...
