I just downloaded Crucible of Man (it leaked online.) I still need to give it time to sink in, but so far I quite like it. It's probably Iced Earth's heaviest and least melodic album, or at least second after Burnt Offerings. The riffing is great as always, as are the drumming and the bass...

For me it's a hit and miss album. Some songs are great, others mediocre. Gallows' cover of Wrathchild is the only song I really hate. And while I don't really love Metallica, I'd say their cover or Remember Tomorrow is the only song on the album that surpasses the original.

Overall, not a bad album though I suspet it'll grow on me over time. I love Coheed's version of the trooper and Ghostlines' version of Brave New World.

For me it's been the opposite. I was a bit turned off by it at first, but it's become my favourite album of the year so far.

It just struck me a moment ago that Pyramaze, whether intentionally or unintentionally, have a brilliant strategy for making themselves better known. Recruiting Matt Barlow probably doubled their fan base, and it's no stretch to assume they'll gain the notice of most Tad Morose fans soon enough.

Re: B L A Z E / Wolfsbane I just got the album today, and I was blown away. I found his previous albums a bit slow and hard to get into, but this, in my opinion at least, is Blaze's best work since The X Factor.

I've been listening to Nostradamus nonstop for the last several days and I can't overstate how much I love it. It's definitely not classic Priest, in fact, it sounds like nothing they've ever done. It's late '70s Priest combined with Painkiller and late '80s Maiden. It's big and pretentious, but...

I know this is borderline blasphemy, but I find Painkiller (the song, not the album) by Judas Priest really annoying. The guitar work, especially the solo, is brilliant, but Halford really overdoes the vocals on the heavy parts, not to mention the lyrics are impossible to take seriously.

I can attest to that. I have an eight year old Toyota that still functions and handles like new.

I recently saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It's a really unique and clever action comedy starring Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer. It has some of the fuinniest and most clever dialogue I've heard in years and action and acting are both great.

For anyone interested, Immortal is now out in Europe and available for download online. It didn't quite live up to my mammoth expectations but it's still a great album, I'd say on par with Iced Earth's Horror Show.

Most of Nostradamus has recently leaked onto youtube. Some very impressive stuff so far, almost sounds like a completely different band. So far I'd say the standout track are Revelations and Death.
