Which songs never worked live as good as in the original studio version?

Out of the Silent Planet, the multiple layers of vocals made it a very "studio sounding" song, Bruce could not recreate that with just one voice live.

    The Future Past tour 2023

    - Janick gives an account of performing for PlayClassics! audiences. ;)

What songs do Maiden change live?

Bruce played a clean guitar on Revelations on the Powerslave tour, so that they could replicate one part more accurately. Janick has always played that part in later years though.

What songs do Maiden change live?

From 2011 and onwards, Dave Murray has played the intro lead melody to Blood Brothers with his distorted lead tone, instead of using a clean tone. Compare En Vivo and Live Chapters version with studio and Rock in Rio for example. He did the same last year.

What songs do Maiden change live?

Adrian Smith added a short guitar solo to Journeyman when it was performed live (it can be heard on Death on the Road).

What songs do Maiden change live?

Sign of the Cross has never had any clean guitars, except during the intro and the interlude with the choir vocals, when performed live. That gives some parts a totally different sound.

    The Future Past tour 2023

Janick is sounding really good, taking those first lead melodies in Hell on Earth. Then at the end, it is him and Adrian combined. Maybe a tour like this will fuel the Janick bashing a little bit more again though, like The Early Days Tour and Somewhere Back in Time Tour, but there's room for...

    Blaze Bayley

The band that wrote the songs on Silicon Messiah (and Tenth Dimension) can be seen performing in this video. Blaze (and some fans) seem to have forgotten their contributions in recent years though, with making up a story about that the prime Silicon Messiah material consisted of some lost...

Unplayed live songs and the future of Maiden: what's next?

With Blaze: Sign of the Cross, Lord of the Flies, Man on the Edge, Fortunes of War, The Aftermath, Blood on the World's Hand, The Edge of Darkness. The last 3 never were not performed on the Virtual XI tour, while Fortunes of War was played at the first few gigs, then dropped. With Bruce: Sign...

    The Future Past tour 2023

It is mentioned in Blaze's biography that Nicko played some recordings captured from the soundboard on the Virtual XI tour to Steve (Blaze had a couple of very rough performances on that tour, due to the demanding song set and some times hectic concert schedule). That, in combination with Rod...

    The Future Past tour 2023

Good audio. I really like Dave's new Stratocaster btw, it's a bit reminiscent of his 80's ESP Strat, which he used on Maiden England.

    The Future Past tour 2023

Janick played his parts very well on that one. That sounded excellent. He even added some pinch harmonics at 3:18 - 3:19.

    Blaze Bayley

    - Andy Sneap, in 2011. This makes it clear that Sneap had an active role in shaping the songs together with Blaze and the rest of the band, including the vocal melodies. He wasn't just recording and mixing the stuff passively...

    Blaze Bayley

The only things that would have been similar are some of the lyrical themes, inspired by the movie "Gattaca" released in 1997. Blaze wrote the lyrics in Reach for the Horizon, The Launch and Stare at the Sun roughly based on that. Otherwise than that, not much really. It's an insult to Andy...

Dokken & Lynch Mob (and related bands)

I actually got into Lynch's music thanks to watching the Sweet & Lynch - The Wish video when it came out in 2014. I also remember reading that the first time that they met in person was to take some promo shots and to record that video.

    Blaze Bayley

Production is a bit to heavy for Blaze I think (guitars and bass have basically the same sound as the Bermudez brothers own death metal band, Underthreat). Blaze's vocals maybe are a bit strained at times too, but they are still good albums with lots of strong songs. I listen to them from time...
