Used to get tons of the things on holiday, I'd quite happily catch the little ones when I was a kid but the big 2-3" ones freaked me out like crazy, I remember getting really far on a Shinobi arcade machine, dying, then going to put in some more money and seeing a huge one crawling up the front...
I agree, I think Ripper was a fantastic fit. The change in writing was a mix of them trying a new direction to fit with the vocalist (tuning down included) and that their previous writing team had always been Tipton/Downing/Halford, and had now lost a part of that. I've always been surprised...
Agreed. I first checked out Blaze when I was still very fresh into Maiden and didn't know much beyond the contents of Eddie the Great, and I liked Silicon Messiah quite a bit. I'd heard the majority of Maiden's work at that point but the only things from their time with Blaze was Man on the Edge...
Hmm, thinking about it, for the reunion openers I would go Wicker Man > Wildest Dreams = Final Frontier > Different World. Final Frontier has grown on me since it's release, all the other 3 are fast paced whereas FF isn't and I like that difference, it's simplistic but it works. Might change...
Isn't Paul the one who was recorded at a gig saying 'Fuck Metal' and going on and on about how he is all about punk? Yet this is clearly metal. Perhaps I'm wrong, I just swear I remember him being quoted as thinking metal is inferior.
The vocals on that track aren't that bad, better than some...
If it was a case of just don't get involved then I wouldn't mind, say at a festival if they did it away from the rest of the crowd. But they do it right in the middle, and often the people around them don't want to be involved, let alone have people bashing into them. When I saw Maiden on AMOLAD...
One thing I dislike about metal culture - or more particularly, the younger members of metal culture - moshpits.
I'm there to see the band, hearing the music live is great but it's not really enough different to just listening to a live recording at home, SEEING the band is the main reason to...
I know plenty of people who dislike metal and yet haven't given it a chance, I also know plenty who dislike it and have tried to listen to some, but the reason they give is either "Its noise" or "Its just shouting" or "Its just songs about death". They simply don't like it, just like I don't...
Metalheads may bash other genres, but I rarely hear them bash the listeners themselves. However most people who bash metal, bash the culture and fans equally as much as the music.
Can't say I've ever been offended by ANY genre, if I don't like it I don't listen to it, simple as. I have heard songs and gone "WTF, This is meant to be music!?" before (one instance that stuck in mind was being in a clothes store once and the song playing was basically 5 minutes of the words...
