The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

Horrifying, terrible news I just discovered: every band except for the bands behind the songs I nominated have just been confirmed to be Nazis. I expect you all to vote accordingly. You wouldn’t vote for a Nazi, would you?

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

2 years ago I saw a guy in a Burzum shirt at a Primus show. I told him to stop watching porn and got a very deadpan reaction. I don’t think he knew what I was talking about. Every time you order a Burzum shirt online, the merchant should make you watch that video of Varg telling you to stop...

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

Ultimate Sin is also my favorite Ozzy album. For being an Ozzy album from the 80’s, it’s still criminally underrated. There’s an upper echelon of heavy metal albums in my life that I wish ALL heavy metal albums could sound like - and The Ultimate Sin is in that tier for me. That sweet hard rock...

Not to jinx it but are we about to get the first shut out of the game?

Excellent nomination of Secret Loser @MindRuler . Jake E Lee is my favorite Ozzy guitarist and I love The Ultimate Sin. Also gosh N.I.B. rules. I really never need an excuse to gush over that early Sabbath stuff, and sometimes it surprises me that those albums are as big as they are - it’s like...

Top 25 Songs that AREN'T Iron Maiden

I’ll have to reread the beginning of this thread, but if it wasn’t evident, I was very young when I made this thread ahaha I can come close to making a new list sometime soon, thanks for the kind words @Siddharth

Sheesh, insanely strong round. Also I have listened to a couple Lita Ford albums, EXTREMELY underrated guitar player and her band is killer! Great hair metal with a pretty slick edge. Kiss Me Deadly is just great fun and such a classic.

Grimes and Nick Cave are both very complex. This may be another discussion entirely, but just because pop/dance music is Grimes’s engine for delivering her music, it doesn’t make it less complicated or simpler than a rock or metal band’s music. But like I said - another discussion for another...

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

I can’t believe UFO is losing on an Iron Maiden forum… to System of a Down no less! I have never cared for System of a Down. Their “quirky” or “odd” character seems WAY too forced (as in not natural). There’s artist I listen to like let’s say Nick Cave or Grimes that have a strange or peculiar...

I think this is first time in the entire game that all my votes have aligned with someone else!

Only thing I got is maybe the riff in Snowblind by Black Sabbath? EDIT: Bewitched by Candlemass is slightly similar, I always thought Welcome Home (Sanitarium) from Metallica sounded atleast a bit similar too.

Sorry, I may have been the one to turn the tide late towards Sabbath. Symphony X does rock and I think they're about the best prog band to my non-prog leaning ears.

Perhaps this isn't the thread to air out all my personal grievances on the state of things today, but I really wish politics didn't inevitably invade everything I like (I'm sure that statement alone is enough to get some snarky quotes about how bad of a person I am for not following this stuff...

There's a saying I heard awhile ago that really resonates with me: A truly great song cannot be overplayed. I feel that Crazy Train is overplayed.

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

Very easy round for me, going Priest, DT, Dio, Faith No More, Candlemass, and Demon. I hope more people listen to that Demon song and don't just vote for Ozzy off name recognition. Demon is quietly one of my favorite NWOBHM bands!

My Immortal beating out Darkthrone in a metal song cup is just… Well, I don’t think I have words for it.

With the exception of Thorns and obviously Linkin Park - extremely strong round! Gonna take me awhile to think of who to vote for.
