    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Today is not a good day to live in essentially the last continental time zone in the world.

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

Tears of a Clown, Death or Glory stick out for me, off the top of my head. Speed of Light was fun and The Man of Sorrows interesting.

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

I thought Books of Souls is chalk full of good to great solos.

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

One thing I find notable about these two songs is how well-composed each is, relatively compact and well-knitted, with great flow between the parts. Very purposeful and (from a songwriting perspective) polished. From a production perspective, I find the drum sound absolutely fantastic and Iove...

    New single: Stratego

I think that where you keep tripping up — and have since Book of Souls — is in consistently conflating your opinion of Maiden's "choices" with fact. It's OK, that you and your mom don't like the sound, and it is OK to point that out. But your ongoing insistence that when people don't agree with...

    Repetitive Choruses count

Apologies @Forostar but I think that comment was pretty ambiguous as far as spoilers go.

Guess you guys are real disappointed with Stratego

    New single: Stratego

Instantly grabbed me like no reunion single has, including Wicker Man, and I'm one who usually likes singles. Gers is a monster.

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

"ponderous midtempo, progressive structures and expansive instrumental phases"? Sounds like the Maiden I love. Now I'm really excited.

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Song endings 101: A chorus A crescendo A fadeout A bang A denoument There ain't a lot of options folks. Are we really complaining that Steve favours one of the lesser-used choices? Especially after all these years and all those great songs? Oh look at that (eye roll here): fucking van gogh...

The MAIDEN Years: 2018/19/20/21/22/ad infinitum (Rock in Rio and Nights of the Dead)

Great stuff, as always @Mosh I gotta add that the rhythm section was at the height of its powers on this one - a Ferrari racing down a mountain road.

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Are we really complaining on here that a song doesnt sound like the fantasy someone built in their head over a viral marketing campaign that was essentially some initials and a poster? I think that says a lot more about the critic than the song.

    Bruce Dickinson

Tyranny is a good collection of songs. Does t hold up as well as an album, if you can appreciate the distinction. Hog is a badass fun hard rock song with an amazingly catchy chorus. From what this forum has Taught me of your tastes, I can understand why some of you don’t like it.

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Harris was the engine of golden age Maiden, but he’s kinda evolved into more overseer than creative force post-reunion. These songwriting credits look much more 1980s than 2010s and it has really piqued my curiousity.

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

Very much in the vein of their influences - Lizzy, Purple - without sounding like them. Catchy as hell without being obvious - an unexpected single, like Breeg, but an entirely understandable choice. The main riff is vaguely reminiscent of the Legacy and Mother Russia even though the song is...

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

Blessed of the Beast. Bruce’s favourite hymns with Jan accompanying him on the harp. Chest of the Beast 60 minutes of Steve and Bruce challenging Rod to a bench press competition while Nicko counts and Davey sips warm Trooper in the background.

One of only two albums listed that aren’t from his formative years. Excellent band, excellent album. Dont see them getting much attention here.
