Strong arguments actually and I gotta say you actually got me convinced. I would have hated a setlist that featured no epics and only "hits". Instead we got 3 epics (4 if you count Hallowed as an epic)!
I do however agree on Aces High. Never should've returned. But oh well. If that's the only...
I think the main reason there's so much hate and negativity for Aces High is that Bruce has stated in multiple interviews that he struggles to sing the song nowadays and still they keep it in the setlist. And to make things worse, in a very awkward spot in the setlist as well. Had it been the...
Fun fact I just thought of, they played 6 title tracks in this setlist:
Iron Maiden
Killers
The Number of the Beast
Powerslave
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Fear of the Dark
This is my exact thoughts as well. Nothing will top the LotB production for Aces High and if they really want to play it they should play is as an opener. Not an encore, not as closer, just as opener.
The fantastic epics and great production of the first half of the concert gets taken down by...
Last night after seeing the setlist I felt disappointed. Mainly because I was pretty hyped up for some "big surprises". But I gotta say, I'm now listening to the setlist on Spotify and the beginning and middle section are incredibly strong! The pacing is a bit weird to me and the order of some...
That's my whole thought as well. For a 50th anniversary tour they really had to go all out and surprise fans with more than just epics that, quite frankly, carried the whole setlist.
SBiT had Moonchild, Heaven Can Wait and Revelations added to the setlist. Maiden England had ATSS, TETMD, and...
I like it better than the Wrathchild one.
That's Dan Mumford's art. He makes some great band posters and shirt designs but this is definitely not his best one! Het also made some shirt designs for the Future Past Tour.
Aces High and Wrathchild shirts.
Very weird to me that they wanted these hidden. Unless the comment from someone a few pages back about the merch stand' employees covering the wrong ones was true and they were actually supposed to hide Rime and Clairvoyant. Which for Clairvoyant I also find...
It's my least favorite Maiden album together with X Factor. But what bums me is that they advertise the tour with "songs from the first 9 albums" and completely skip over ond of those".
Would've been better if they changed that sentence to "songs from Maiden's 80's and 90's discography". That...
I'm going to say something controversial here, and Maiden is my favorite band of all time, but this tour feels so incredibly overhyped at the moment. Bruce's "this is a setlist for the ages" and his promise of "doing stuff we've never done before". It all feels like a big marketing stunt at this...
I personally feel like this setlist was relying too much on Rime, 7th Son and Phantom, aka, the epics.
Great songs but the rest was just so incredibly bland (exception of Killers). Encore was uninspired and the fact they reused LotB assets is disappointing. They could have done SO MUCH MORE...
Okay starting to get a little disappointed here. Aces High, again? And as encore opener? Nah man....
Plus, 4 songs from Powerslave? Come on Maiden it's a tour featuring songs from the first 9 albums, not a Powerslave centered tour. Not complaining about Rime though...
