Bump! Not every melodic song with undistorted guitar is a power ballad. To me, power ballads are songs like Still in Love With You, Love ain't no Stranger, Bed of Roses etc. In that case Wasting Love is the only one that comes to mind

I'd say that the guitar sound on X-Factor is even worse; it is paper thin and drowned out. On the other hand the mix is much more dynamic and Nicko has a great drum sound whereas Virtual XI seems flatter over all.

Not a very good album (two standout tracks though) and the tour doesn't seem to be the most memorable. That said, this is a great performance:

But the verses of dance of death, the intro to Montségur, Paschendale, Face in the Sand are also in competition. Dance of death has a nice, crunchy and very metal guitar...

Hopefully he will have a fatter drum sound than Nicko and hit heavier. It would be a nice thing to have them end their career with a sound more similar to Clive's (this is not a dig at Nicko who is/was an amazing drummer).

I can't understand the acclaim for AMOLAD, but maybe my impression is clouded by the 2006 mix (which is fuzzy and undefined). DoD has a bad mix but a gloriously crunchy guitar production. Best guitar tone of the reunion albums along with BNW. Of the 80's albums it must be SIT for layers and...
