At this point in the playoffs, I would most certainly not disagree with the statement that Price has been the best tender so far.

If I was to pick any goalie in the league for my team, taking into account age, I would pick Jonas Hiller.

Time to bust out ye olde calculator and conjure up some statistics. Tim Thomas and Henrik Lundqvist were rookies in the same season, which makes comparing them somewhat easier.  Assuming 2010-11 had the same average sv % as 2009-10, the average sv % league-wise since 2005-06 has been 0.9075. ...

Thomas is not an elite goalie?   :uhm: The man's career sv % is 0.922.  Albeit short, he's had one of the best careers of any goalie, ever.

How much longer for Iron Maiden?

    3 or 4 years, unfortunately.

    OMG!!! A Blaze USA tour!!!

It may be Blaze, but it's not his band.  I would've loved for this to have happened any time in the last decade, but not now.

    The 2011 Tour Thread! (SPOILERS)

I'm going to throw out a dark horse candidate:

    Nashville does pretty well attendance-wise.

Well, business sense doesn't always correspond to internet polls.  But it's not a bad place for a franchise, one would think.  At least all 6 Vancouver/Seattle games would sell out.

I think he should win the Hart.  If you're looking at individual contribution to a team, Thomas is right at the top.  Last year, the average sv % was 0.911.  An "average" goalie in Thomas' shoes these years would have let in 155 goals to Thomas' 109. What other player can claim that kind of net...

Well, lets see.  In 1981-82, there were 6493 goals scored by 21 teams playing 80 games each, for a total of 840 games.  In 2009-10, there were 6389 goals scored by 30 teams playing 82 games each, for a total of 1230 games. So, goals per game in 81-82 = 7.7 Goals per game in 09-10 = 5.2 If we...

I agree.  132 points in this day and age is beyond phenomenal. Furthermore, I'd also argue that Crosby is much better defensively than either of those two.

Not to mention that team defence has improved leaps and bounds as well.  You take any one of the Devils (pretty much any time in the last decade and a half), the Stars of the late '90s, the Blues of the late '90s/early '00s, or the Senators until '06, and you could shut down Gretzky's Oilers...

Here's an interesting argument against Lundqvist winning a Vezina.  Everyone knows that Lundqvist is leading the league with an impressive 11 shutouts.  How many more would he need, assuming an average of 30 shots against per game, to catch up to Tim Thomas in the category of save percentage...

He put up 85 points last year.  Good for 11th place in scoring.  That's hardly a lack of presence. Besides, Vancouver finished 5th overall last year.  So that's more of an argument for Sedin rather than against him.

I don't think you can take 43 goals and 104 points away from a team and still have them be in first place.  The team's got a Class A playmaking center in Henrik, but who's scoring the goals on his wing if Daniel's not there?  Burrows?  Samuelsson?  I don't buy it that either of those two could...

Odds are it's Daniel Sedin. Who should it be?  Sedin's not a bad choice.  A large part of Vancouver's dominance can be attributed to him.  Thomas wouldn't be a bad choice either, and might be the one I'd gravitate toward; his play has been ridiculous, and a good part of Boston's success this...

I'd definitely agree.  Outside of this year, he's been fairly mediocre for his career. I do take objection to this comment though.  ~70% of hockey is played where the teams are within a goal.  Making saves always matters.  The argument that Fuhr should be a Hall of Fame goalie because he "made...
