There's as much twin and three part melodies on Maiden albums as the past, they just aren't in thirds. Adrian has said Steve thinks thirds are cliched.

I don't disagree with any of that, but the point I was trying to make, is that none of that is essentially Roy Z magic, it's classic metal magic from the past and modern metal magic from the (then) present, and none of it makes any sort of impression on the wider public in the nu metal period if...

I don't think there's ever been any "magic" from Roy Z's side of the equation. He writes very good metal in the style of already established bands, records it well and had a finger on the zeitgeist for what younger bands were doing in the 90s in a way Maiden didn't, but I don't think he ever...

Getting a good laugh at people discussing Bruce's teeth and looking up how to book him for speaking engagements, only a week after people were imagining that fans on the official website travel to Paris on the off chance of seeing Maiden recording an album.

Can I Play with Madness. Wasted Years wasn't great live up until around 2008 but has been great since then. Otherwise I think I prefer the live version of every Maiden track.
