Today's flight really demonstrated what wind means. Had planned a trip down to Skien airport, a 45 minutes flight or so. When I got there, the local radio frequency was silent. As I entered the traffic pattern, I understood why. The crosswind was on the limit of what I could handle, and when I got some wind shear on top of that, I decided to go around and try again. The second attempt was no better and I decided to head back to Kjeller. There, the wind was strong too, but aligned with the runway, making for a rather uncomplicated landing.

But the flight itself was very nice. It was easy to see that winter is coming to an end, the lowland areas are now green with only patches of snow, and the ice looked pretty thin on many lakes.
