The first matchup. I love both songs very much. Pitting songs like these against each other doesn't seem fair, because great songs have to lose while some unknown tracks continue in the game. But I understand that's part of the game - no grudges against Siddharth, all good.
Again, both songs are absolute classics, and this is a “which of my kids do I love the most?” kind of situation. I chose to vote for Dio's Holy Diver, because when you say “Dio,” you immediately think Holy Diver - at least I do. Whereas when you say Judas Priest, you think Painkiller or Breaking the Law. That doesn't mean The Sentinel isn't up there. It's definitely in my top 10.
I love The Sentinel's overall futuristic atmosphere, the guitar work, and Rob's angry, energetic vocals. Like I said, this song is a great classic, but I voted for Dio.

The second matchup. In Sacrifice's song, I heard a strong Slayer influence. Maybe, sound-wise, it even reminded me a bit of Hell Awaits album. Lazarus A.D. felt very smoothly produced and fast-rolling. Overall, its music is on the heavier side, but it felt strangely inoffensive and head-nodding-friendly. The interplay between the two guitars at the end was nice. I voted for Lazarus A.D.

Third matchup. Running Wild's Under Jolly Roger is obviously a classic. I'm not in a very cozy place with the album's production, though, but it is what it is.
Pretty Maids are much less known to me compared to Running Wild. I liked that angry guitar lick/riff, and the song is also much more uptempo and better produced. The synths are not so likeable to me in this song, but they don't ruin it. I voted for Future World because it's a fast-bullet type of song.

In the last matchup, I'm obviously biased, but come on - Beyond the Realms of Death is one of Priest's greats. Strange Ways also has a nice melody going on - delightful. And I love Savatage's Hall of the Mountain King; it's my favorite of theirs. I guess it was an unlucky pairing, but it is what it is.

The riff on this Savatage song is pure Scorpions worship. As usual, I want to like Savatage more than I do. Beyond The Realms of Death is an absolute masterpiece.

Holy Diver vs The Sentinel is brutal. I think Sentinel is one of Priest's very best songs, but Holy Diver's might is just captivating.
Savatage's Strange Ways has a really nostalgic chorus and melodic riffing.
Pretty Maids' Future World is class, that intro melodic riff, the whole urgent vibe is presented really well. The chorus with keys works.
Under Jolly Roger's Grave Digger vibe is fun.

Fun Fact: "Strange Wings" is a duet between Jon Oliva and Ray Gillen. Ray was the original vocalist for Black Sabbath during the recording of their album The Eternal Idol. Due to management problem, he was removed and the album was hurriedly completed with adding Tony Martin's vocals (the evil laugh during the song Nightmare is indeed Gillen). Ray went on to form Badlands with his former Sabbath bandmate Eric Singer, which also featured Jake E. Lee (formerly of Ozzy Osbourne) on guitar as well!

Both strong contenders in the first match. The Sentinel is a top 10 Priest song for me. The harmonized guitars, the breakdown section, just awesome! The only issue is that on the opposite is Holy Diver, one of the greatest pieces of Heavy metal of all time. The main riff, the overall atmosphere and the way the vocals are delivered by Ronnie James Dio is iconic!
I look upon Lazarus A.D. as modern day Pantera. It happens to be so unfortunate that they could only release two albums before their drummer passed away. Although both are unadultred, full on New Wave Thrash albums. Revolution is a great representation of the band and the last part during the harmony is an obvious nod to Maiden. Light Of The End is good and its nice to see Sacrifice in the tournament, its just that I like Lazarus A.D. WAY more!
Believe it or not, the hardest match for me in this round was the third match. Both good songs and I found the vocal style in both of them to be pretty similar, yet having their own chutzpah. The synth adds a really good dynamic in Future World, putting a more interesting layer on it, as compared to Jolly Roger. Though it has a solid main riff and the solo part is really good, I will go for Future World. But worry not pretty mama @Cat Milk Supreme. More from your favourite band later in the tournament...
Though Beyond The Realms Of Death covers an interesting theme, I personally never found it THAT astonishing or something. But hey, that's me! Strange Wings is an awesome soothing number from a great album by a legendary band. The vocal duet between Jon Oliva and Ray Gillen is awesome. The song has a cool atmosphere going on with a great solo and a lengthy lead part in the later half, performed by the late but great Criss Oliva!

Holy Diver is a classic. As I mentioned before, I'm not a big Judas Priest fan and The Sentinel doesn't do anything for me. Also, I absolutely love Dio's vocal style. I never much cared for Rob's vocals. Easy win for Tiger Rider.
Love the outright contempt with which the vocals are spat out on Revolution. I was about to write that this is a pretty cool thrash song and that there are plenty of things that I appreciate, when I was hit with the blast beat. This is awesome!
(There's an annoying high pitched ringing around the 3 minute mark though. Probably because of the cymbals. That should've been filtered out)
Really enjoyed the vocal style on Light Of The End, but overall I prefer the style and production of the Lazarus A.D. song. Kinda unfair due to there being a difference of over 20 years between those songs. But hey, this is a contest, things won't always be fair.
Future World sounds like an amalgamation of all 80s glam metal songs combined lol
The intro/chorus riff isn't the greatest and the gruffer vocals sound kinda weird. But the song overall has a bunch of interesting details. I had a good time listening to it. Obnoxious ending though (at least in the music video version).
I like Running Wild, but Under Jolly Roger never really did much for me. Their best song, by far imo, is The Ballad Of William Kidd. I almost ended up nominating that, but some other songs ended up getting a spot instead.

The cover is a 10/10 for me, but I fucking hate Rob's voice on this one, so goddamn annoying. And that's saying something when the opponent is Jon Oliva lol. It pretty much ruins the song for me and I can't wait to never ever going back to the JP original.
As for Savatage, I never cared for their early material, but I love their rock operas. I nominated one of their later songs. Strange Things is one of the better early songs, unlike Hall Of The Mountain King, for example. That one always annoyed me. So, I have to choose between the song I find compositionally much much stronger (BTROD) against the song I found much more pleasant to listen to (SW). Prior to listening to them, I thought this was an easy win for BTROD, but SW wins due to its awesome chorus.
