First of all, I never planned to watch it because I suspected it wouldn’t be my type of movie. I only watched it after somebody strongly recommended it to me.
Obsession tackles important issues but does it in an unconvincing way. The male character is unbelievably wimpy and helpless, their mutual friends are too passive, the storytelling is weak and immature at parts and there are tonal inconsistencies. I already discussed the movie at length with my friend and can’t be bothered to add spoilers right now but I can bring examples if you’d like.
I had the experience of watching a mediocre thriller. It built suspense in a way that I was watching parts of the movie through my fingers, anticipating a jump scare. Some frights were successful, some were predictable and unnecessary. In total, not something I’d watch again but not offensively bad either. The most disappointing part was reading reviews on Letterboxd afterwards and realising that the people praising the movie are united by a singular hate for the male character. “A man will put you through every circle of hell imaginable and still have the audacity to ask: “What’s so bad about being with me?”” I quoted the top-rated review on the website. It seems like an ugly take on men to be honest. Like the quiet socially awkward guy is always a disturbed pervert waiting to have his way with a pretty girl. They say he’s nothing but a rapist, while I didn’t think for a moment that the guy was in it just for sex or carnal desires. And the whole thing is built on the premise that a children’s make-a-wish toy works, which would be excusable as a movie plot if the rest of the story was well-presented. Again, the movie itself didn’t make me feel this way but combined with the audience reaction, it looks like an easy “sympathy grab” on account of Gen Z’s neuroticism.
I’m sincerely interested in whether I missed something important which makes this movie valuable and worth watching, except for building a suspenseful atmosphere where it partly succeeds.

@Saapanael I'm suggesting you to watch another horror survival movie. Send Help with Rachel McAdams, I'm not saying it's impecabble but I've enjoyed it enough. It's also about relationships. One of those black humor tinged movies where things escalate and goes completely bonkers. A tropical location is a huge plus, at least for me.

The film is told to 99% through the eyes of the main character. They show how he is only told what is happening. He just has to trust the scientific community he is a part of on what the consequences will be. They are talking 30 year time frames, not immediate.
What is actually happening on Earth while he is gone is irrelevant.
It's just as hyped as it should be. It is unique as a buddy cop movie set in space; the first SF hit in a long time with an upbeat tone, and a marvel of scientific accuracy similar movies like Interstellar does not even attempt.

Finished watching the second season of Ted Lasso. Overall, it felt a bit too syrupy for me, especially the first half. There was too much socio-political conjuncture or whatever, and my toxic masculinity felt a little cringey at times, ha.
Yeah, it's clearly aimed at as wide an audience as possible, so it's understandable. The first season seemed more fun and realistic, relatively speaking.
But nonetheless, it's still watchable.

We went to see the Oasis documentary at the cinema at the weekend. Good fun watch even though i`m no big Oasis fan. I got a bit bored of seeing fan`s crying but kind of get the vibe when you see someone that has played a big part of your life live again after a long gap.
The concert footage really captured the energy and fun of an Oasis gig and i would love to see Bruce getting the crowd to do the Poznan on the next Maiden tour!
