Best Metal Song Tournament (Round 4)

Are you enjoying my style of putting songs against each other?

  • Total voters

6 Bruce Dickinson - The Tower
3 Blaze Bayley - Stare At The Sun +1

9 Metallica - Disposable Heroes +1

0 Sacrifice - Forward To Termination/Terror Strikes

8 Avantasia - Avantasia +1
1 Primal Fear - Eden

5 Ghost - Cenotaph
4 Corrosion Of Conformity - Albatross +1

I care more about Stare at the Sun, they're both fantastic songs though... I really thought there would be more Blaze votes here.

Second round isn't even close, sorry. Didn't hear anything in Sacrifice.

The Metal Opera Pt. I is one of my best discoveries from the game Mosh ran last year! This song isn't the reason, but I like it too. Reach out for the Light and Sign of the Cross are the real highlights there.
I didn't expect Eden to be what it was and I enjoyed the coldness of it. Could give it the vote but I think Avantasia is just better.

Last round is the hardest, I don't love everything I've heard from Ghost but this one is very strong. I've loved Albatross for longer so I will take the easy way out and vote for it, but it's very close. Wouldn't hesitate if it was Clean My Wounds, or mostly anything from Blind.

2 Primal Fear - Eden +1

5 Corrosion Of Conformity - Albatross +1

I love The Tower. To this day, whenever I tune a guitar, I play the lead guitar lick from the song's intro. It's one of my go tos. Despite that, I have to go with SATS on this one. It feels like Blaze's attempt at a Harris-style epic. That resonates more with my tastes. As good as The Tower is, there are better songs on TCW.

I've already mentioned how I'm not the biggest Metallica fan. MOP is a legendary album filled with bangers though and Disposable Heroes is one of them. First time hearing of Sacrifice and any of their songs. It's thrash metal alright.

Avantasia is relatively simple. I would've preferred something a bit more bombastic, I guess. Not a huge fan of Michael Kiske's voice either, to be honest. Eden aligns a lot more with my tastes. A vocal style I appreciate more and an overall much more epic song. Easy choice.

Sorry to the fans of Satanic Scooby Doo Chase Music out there, but Cenotaph does nothing for me. The only part I enjoyed was the solo. Albtross is an easy winner. Gives me some sludgier Alice In Chains vibes, in a good way. Really fun song.

@Vaenyr - choose wisely in the last match. Let Albatross fulfill its namesake via a worthy tie game.
So it shall be written, so it shall be done :D

Round 3 Winners:

Metallica - Disposable Heroes (10 points)
Avantasia - Avantasia (8 points)
Bruce Dickinson - The Tower (6 points)

Not exactly a fun fact but one thing interesing about the 1st match is that both the songs are by one-off projects.

The All-Star Sessions was released to celebrate 20th anniversary of Roadrunner records. Each song in the album has a different lineup, consisting of different artists signed to the record company. You may have guessed after listening to "In The Fire" that it has King Diamond on vocals, along with Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu both from Trivium, on guitar, Mike D'Antonio of Killswitch Engage on bass (if I'm not wrong, he also did the cover art) and Dave Chavarri (Ill Nino) on drums. I would suggest any Metal fan to check out the Roadrunner documentary.

Though not technically a supergroup or something, the only album released by Tribuzy has guest appearances from several vocalists (Bruce, Michael Kiske, Ralf Scheepers among others) along with Roy Z as well. You may already know that "Beast In The Light" features Bruce. So that makes both the songs kind of same in someway, hence I put them against each other.

Next round starts from: 28th August :edmetal:

The first match was the toughest but In the end Bruce bias did the trick.
