Now Playing (Video Games)

I have also seen speculation recently that the next gen of Playstation and Xbox hardware will cost in excess of 1000 USD at launch, combining this with expensive, digital-only games is not an attractive prospect.
Yes i saw that too. I think its imposible, theyll wait until the chip crisis ends. I see ps5 for years

I've owned a Playstation console from the first one. Only skipped the Vita and all the VR stuff. But fuck Sony. From now on I'll stay with PC and the Switch 2. Really hope this blows up in their face.

Yes i always choose the disc edition. Its bad news for gamers. Even that the game now is just the box and the dvd

Yeah, we used to have thick booklets filled with interesting and valuable information, maps, tips and tricks and all that. Those became rarer and rarer until they disappeared completely. Now we're losing access to physical games. On top of all that, so many studios are closing down and people losing their jobs. Microsoft is currently shutting down a few studios, while they are also negotiating to see if they'll shut down even more. The indie studio behind MIO: Memories In Orbit (pretty cool game) announced a few days ago that they are shutting down as well. The industry is in a really bad place right now.

Sadly Switch 2 is going the same way. There are a number of games that I'd love to get (most recently the new Dragon Quest Monsters game) which I will instead be skipping as they appear to be download only.

Wtf now i just realized the other side. All thr videogames that i have in cd for sure ill cant play on the future play stations because there will be one option ( virtual)

In other words, it will no longer be possible to own games, only to rent them until such a time that the storefront ceases to make them available for download.
That was case for years now. You've always owned license, not the game. Owner of rights always had right to cancel your license. Problem was that with DVD etc. they could cancel your license but you still had access to physical medium so processs was not perfect. But please, make no mistake - you have never 'owned' game. You owned license and nothing changed other than they fixed problem they had with physical media. Same thing with your operating system etc.

But with other media - yeah, full agreement - I prefer DVD/Bluray instead of VOD and Netflix and I prefer physical books instead of e-books from amazon which can always be removed or altered.
