A little while ago, I talked about what my #1 song of 2025 was, and #1 album. I also lamented not having listened to enough new music last year.
This came out last November and I only learned of this one some days ago. Had it still been in 2025 when I listened to it, it would be the #1 album I heard last year.
I don't think of this song as a filler/lesser anymore. The new version with the keys under the chorus brings the Purple vibe, it stands out a bit more. The thrash-y riff shines more as well. I still think the calm middle part is one of Bruce's best. That groove. As he said (and that's why this album is special, the TOG style too), and the song is a good example:
''I wanted to use percussion and different rhythms in a way that’s never been done before. What’s been lacking in this form of music for so many years is groove. Things just became regimented into what’s now the ‘Maiden gallop’ or the 'AC/DC plod'. I tried to stay away from screaming metal… and it was sort of me, but I missed the guitars.''
The emotion/groove is really important for him since then (the change was inevitable), no wonder he released an album like TMP now.
