NOW PLAYING

I really enjoyed this new Dirkschneider song:

Dirkschneider & The Old Gang is an awesome side project. They released just 4 songs so far, but the material is worth it. I love the classic sounding nature and approach of the songs. 80's Udo! Kudos. Good sound too.

I also like ''It Takes Two To Tango''. It's classic U.D.O. (Faceless World era), melodic and catchy. Mathias Dieth is a great guitarist, tasty solos.

It seems they are releasing an album called Babylon? Cool. When?

To say something about the rest of their songs:

  • ''Where The Angels Fly'' - pure 80's good ballad. Beautiful vocal ideas and it's memorable. Stefan's solo to follow the main melody of the song adds to it. Better than some recent U.D.O. and Accept imo.
  • ''Face Of A Stranger'' - melodic rocker, effective one, especially the chorus (have to note that). Mathias with another cool solo. The verses after it are so good and classic Accept-sounding, I love it!
  • ''Every Heart Is Burning'' - mid tempo riffy pleasure. It works. The chorus again delivers(!), the female vocals too (for all of them) and Mathias solo with his old guitar. Niiiice.

Tbh, this material is more interesting than some of his own stuff.

In some strange way this

Slow motion in the quiet of the room;
so potent is the smell of her perfume
that you think she's eternal,
that you think she is everything...
but no-one knows what she is.
Repentance for all you should have said;
her entrance seems to raise you from the dead
and you think she's really with you,
and you think that she'll always stay,
always ready to forgive you,
always ready to grant you her mercy
but in her own way.
When she comes, she'll be a stranger;
struck dumb, you'll try to protest
as the drum beats out the danger...
too late, you should have noticed
that the lady with the skin so white,
like something out of Blake or Burne-Jones
always blocked out the light
and shadowed all you owned.

Still you think she's forever,
yesterday and tomorrow...
but no-one knows where she is.
Still you swear that you can win her
and your prayer is that she'll want you;
aware - once a saint, now you're a sinner
and your sins are going to haunt you
when the lady with her skin so white
like something out of Edgar Allan Poe
holds your hand so very tight
and you hope that she'll never let go.

Easy targets, easy crosswords, easy life:
these key margins leave you balanced on the knife,
bleeding darkly.
In the end it all comes down to sleazy bargains.
That hidden key - you tried so hard to find it,
all you can conceive is the effort to be worthy;
even now you need to be reminded
that La Belle Dame is without mercy.
The lady with her skin so white -
you never did quite catch her name -
now she holds you in the night
and she'll never let go again,
she'll never let go again.

In some strange way this

...goes very well with this and in that order.

The baglamas playing Dylan
and Peter Gabriel plays double-picks
Tom Waits with the clarinets
and the tambourines playing Yes
playing Yes

Put the window in the socket
call the radiator
give the laundry to the tax office
write a slogan in the elevator
in the elevator

Open the throttle with your mind
give speed with your heart
ALL POWER TO THE IMAGINATION
give everything you got for one night
for one night
