Really cool to see Bruce dusting off some older tracks for a live debut, I never thought we'd see a track like The Alchemist cropping up in the set. I get the feeling they will probably try a few different things and see what works during these warm-up shows, hopefully some deep cuts will make...
Given that Future Past is a new album/neglected older album deep cuts tour and that 2025 will be the 50th anniversary of the band, it feels like a safe bet that they will pivot back to a Greatest Hits style tour for the next, possibly final, cycle.
The social media post for the single says that the B-Side is If Eternity Should Fail (Demo), so this is probably what Steve originally heard and decided it should be co-opted for Maiden. I'd expect in that case it has been cut from Bruce's album.
The recording of Senjutsu was the worst-kept secret in metal music, if the band had been in the studio recently we would probably have conclusive proof. I hope I'm wrong though!
The list definitely has some issues, but imo Hetfield is one of the best and most important rhythm guitarists in metal, his downpicking stamina is/was insane and that style of play is equally as influential as the Maiden gallop.
Very good first single, looking forward to the album now! The Sneap production continues to work well for Priest, they still have a punchy and powerful edge.
I could see him headlining the 3rd stage at Download or something along those lines, would much rather see him play a (relative to Maiden) small venue though!
A source who has correctly leaked the headliners for the last few years has said they will be there, either way we should find out in the next few weeks as we are getting into announcement season for the UK and European festivals.
How many people on average show up to the speaking tour dates, a few hundred, 1000? You'd expect at least twice as many people would go to an actual Bruce gig. I would guess he would do somewhere like Kentish Town Forum (2300 capacity) or the Roundhouse (3300) in London.
Have to say I prefer the many brand tie-ins popping up to Bruce inserting Trooper Beers into the Wasted Years chorus, if its external to the music then at least its easy enough to ignore if you're not interested.
Multiple arena gigs across the country is much better than 1 or 2 stadium shows in my opinion, the Maiden stage show is much more effective indoors and it allows for big fans to see more shows. There is also a perception in the music industry that any event that doesn't sell out is a flop, even...
