Nicko did mention the possibility of playing on a new album in the Eddie Trunk podcast:
I'd previously made comments that Nicko's playing wasn't up to scratch without major studio intervention. But based on the recent Titanium Tart shows I've changed my mind. He does seem to have got his groove...
2 months might be a bit tight unless they've already done a decent amount of writing (unlikely) Senjutsu was 2 1/2 months from start to finish.
I'd love to think the Steve could go on tour and leave Kevin to mix, but we all know that isn't going to happen!
The first bolded part is definitely a reference to next years dates. He says this quite nonchalantly, very relaxed and even the "spoiler alert" is said quite sarcastically.
The second underlined part is more interesting. He pauses because he can't suppress a HUGE smile. As mentioned either he...
To be fair to them keeping track of that quiet section in SSOASS is a nightmare. Even on the record. There's so many interlocking parts, and I think the time signature is a bit weird. They should really take some time to work out and rehearse thst section as it's causing so many problems.
Definitely the best of Shirleys, and maybe the best of all (I'd need to go back a re-listen back to back with the rest) It's the kick up the arse that they needed for the modern era and suits the songs really well.
Killers sounds really good, definitely one of the best sounding 80's albums...
I think Brave New World is actually their best sounding album. Huge and epic. Unfortunately Steve's "make everything sound raw" influence has crept in more and more as time goes on, so it's been a downward slope since then.
It's quite difficult to pick out as it was low in the mix. You can kinda hear it at the very very opening second of this before the crowd gets going, but then it's lost.
It could even be an overtone or something blended in with the gong sample, but I'm sure it's new.
Having a wee reflection on the Glasgow gig.
For all the moaning there's been about the setlist it actually works really well. There's plenty for the casual fans but getting Phantom/Powerslave/Mariner/Clairvoyant/SSOASS all in one gig is enough fan service for the die hards. There are some...
I also appreciate the clarity on Leanas post. At least she's not actively pro concentration camps.
This thread has also drifted way off topic, maybe best to take this to the politics thread if people want to continue?
I also found the notice about the phones worked well. Very few phones out throughout the gig, only occasionally when Eddie came out did the numbers creep up.
Yeah Aces was the best it's been this year, but he's still struggling on the second half of the verse and can't hit the high notes in the chorus anymore. He's picked a different note in the chorus so that sounds fine, but it's definitely not perfect.
Glasgow was very good. Some timing slip ups from the band here and there.
Bruce was on great form.
Rime was HEAVY!
Simon I've not really clicked with. Really went in giving him a fair chance but I just don't think he's a good fit.
