    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

It was early 2019 and Steve Harris, keyboardist of Iron Maiden, had just conjured up one of the finest choruses ever imagined to his latest masterpiece, "Hell On Earth" aiming for the send-off spot on the upcoming album. He thought to himself, "Holy balls this chorus is smoking hot and almighty...

    The Parchment

I have to be careful not to overplay this track. I'm positively addicted to it, I might ruin it for myself. Help.

    Hell On Earth

The intro to this one is like an overture for the rest of the piece. It sums up the melodic ideas quite well and my ears just love the plickering and plackering of Harris and the three amigos with solid melodies. Great track from start to finish, I don't want to subtract anything.

    Days Of Future Past

I think it is a great rocker, one of their best post-reunion, and I think it fits perfectly after the longer Lost in a Lost World. As opposed to @daan, I even think it should have been shorter; start the song at 0.31 and have it be right on your face from the start. Great track regardless and...

    The Parchment

This is overall perhaps the best song on the album, tied with Hell on Earth. Phrygian dominant scale is almost like a cheat code for writing great music; Powerslave, Gates of Babylon, Dream Theater's Home, this track. Such a great feeling of mystique whenever it is used. Perfectly executed on...

    The Parchment

Here is a proof of concept of me, a normal pleb, doing the line. Google drive link to voice clip. It's recorded with my phone in a bathroom but it just goes to show it's not an impossible note by any means. Bruce is just really good at selling it.

    The Parchment

What is this nonsense? It doesn't sound exactly the same. It sounds distinctly different each time if you pay close attention. Also, it's a very nice note but it isn't especially high, reaching A4 at the top, which for Bruce is easily done, even today. It's a cool touch to the end of the song...

    Hell On Earth

How aren't people talking more about this song here?! People still working or what? Great song, insane chorus. I wish it was longer with another chorus. One of the best choruses they've done.

    The Time Machine

The Talisman has a different time signature and melody. Why do people reach insanely far to say "X is the same as Y"?

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

I guess it's more the issue of losing immediate reactions from those who decide to listen to it. I understand the leak policy, but at the same time is seems silly to ignore the planet-sized elephant in the room in a forum dedicated to Maiden.

    New single: Stratego

I know many have already stated this, but DAMN does Bruce sound good on this song. He's channeling some BNM and DOD singing on this tune, and some of the same mannerisms as well in terms of phrasing. If you were to show this is how he would sound in 2019 to a late '80s Bruce (before he got his...

    New single: Stratego

This whole "singer X was sick on Y date" has become such a meme in the metal scene. It is mostly used as an excuse for a bad performance. No, Bruce was not sick from 86-89 for a thousand days in a row. He was just burned out by excessive singing. The same can be true nowadays, no sickness...

HAHAHA hahahaha haAHAAHhahahhah (hahahaha) This is definitely some type of OCD.

    New single: Stratego

As you listen to it more and more and remember more lyrics, the low vocals aren't as troublesome anymore as your brain fills the gaps. As I listen to it now, it doesn't sound as muffled as it did my first listen.
