Maybe it is more plausible that there was a contract regarding participation in the tour, and after the big falling out, the contract was suddenly no longer valid for Roy. Maybe he is fighting back against that.

Being driven does not necessarily have to do with how much you have already achieved. Even people who you think have achieved everything can still want more.
Bruce is an example; both with Maiden and as a solo artist, he thinks there should be more.
They never stop all Maiden activities for the members' solo projects. And especially Bruce, he wouldn't suffer if he had so much to do.
He suffers when he has nothing to do.
I can not imagine him complaining that there is a Maiden tour in addition to his solo tour/solo activities.
I was able to take a look at the newsletter. And it says that Steve personally selected the lineup for Friday at EddFest. I hope “TBA” is Blaze. I think that would be well deserved and logical.
