Just listened to the title song... in the dark room, lying in bed with my headphones on (completely sober :D)... Had this cool "vision" of an old, dusty book suspended in air through the first two repetitions of the intro melody, then the book started to open with some thick, black, mysterious...
Really hard to tell. EOTC is my favourite right now. It's a perfectly told story. Nothing more to add in this case. Still need to explore the title track and SoTV. Also this part of TOAC gives me chills:
Life full of fun where did it go
We saw the sadness in his eyes
It came as no surprise
And...
I have similiar feelings about AtG... Just can't fully dig it, really. I always pay close attention to lyrics (that's why I like AMOLAD so much!) but in this case they're just... well, not good at all. They have this strange "primary school student's essey" vibe to me. Good comparison to WtWWB...
Probably my favourite song from Blaze era. Slightly better than Sign of the Cross imo. Amazing, amazing, just amazing. Every part of it. Blaze sounds really powerfull and emotional here. And the lyrics are great as well. Really love the part:
"Here I am the knife in my hand
And now I understand...
Cause it's way too long, main riff is "stolen" from Uriah Heep, lead guitar plays the vocal line which is lame (in this particular track especially!), Bruce sounds strained, "ooohs" are cheesy and there's too many of them... blahblahblah. That's what I've gathered from a certain Polish forum :D...
I bet he's checking up on the forum from time to time and is all like: "Blimey, some people are really defending it!" TAatG is probably Steve's revenge on all the critics hating TXF. It's like: "Been bored by TXF? Eat that shit!"
Kinda liked Blaze's version from Music from the Beast Fest...
I don't hear the Wasted Years intro when listening to SotV anymore. Or at least it stopped bothering me. And hell yeah to:
It really is amazing. As for epic tracks, Jannick Gers is the new Steve Harris for quite some time.
But I still need some time to rate the entire album. Been listening to...
They played two gigs in a row in 2013 and then returned in 2014, so I'm kinda optimistic. Actually, AMOLAD tour was the last one where Poland was skipped as far as I know.
TBOS has actually 4 Steve-less songs. Two of 'em written by Bruce himself (IESF and Empire) and other two by Dickinson/Smith duo (SoL and Death or Glory). So in terms of percentage it's the third album with fewest songs contributed by Steve (approx. 36%). That's pretty significant since on all...
I have the same feeling. Think he kinda took things for granted earlier. Now he really puts his heart into the whole Maiden thing, like he realized it’s his own child he needs to take care of and he puts much more effort into it.
Don't know why, but I keep thinking of 80s-90s Maiden as totally...
