    Judas Priest

Rob and the band ignoring those albums is better for everyone. Not because Rob wasn’t a part of them, but because the Ripper albums are trash. Should they acknowledge the existence of those albums? Sure. Should they ever play any of those songs ever again? Absolutely not. At your average gig...

    DAWSON 1 YEAR ON

I can guarantee that the reason Simon was chosen had more to do with personality. I don't know him, but I can only assume that Steve was far more comfortable picking someone he knows is probably easy to work with, goes with the flow, and won't rock the boat. Joe Lazarus is Steve's nephew...

    DAWSON 1 YEAR ON

I think Simon's playing some drums and Nicko used to play some drums. It is what it is innit?

    Fear of The Duck

This might be the only time I've ever dropped this where it was actually relevant!

I think it's a bit both columns, for sure. Before the great wave of negativity there was a massive wave of spam-like nonsense that I think killed a lot of enthusiasm around here for the Old Guard (myself included, as I certainly frequent far fewer threads that I used to).

    Finally, I'm in!

Welcome! First question: when Adrian Smith invented the concept of music, what was his first act? Second question: who is your favorite Maiden guitarist and why is it Adrian?

I can guarantee you that if they're not spending constructive time here, they're definitely not creating accounts to troll the trolls. I think it's just much less busy, which means there is also less vitriol. Unfortunately, the majority of the business around here has devolved into either...

I think they've just outgrown taking time out of their days to police the bullshit of children and trolls for $0.

    Blaze Bayley

Well he did play SOTC, Clansman and Angel and the Gambler, so that’s 35 minutes lol

Which is of the guitarrists in Maiden is your favorite riff/rhythm writer?

If we're talking riffs, it has to be Adrian. Janick writes a lot of chords + melodies. The main riff in The Book of Souls is an absolute beast, though! Dave...come on, now. I think you have to have written more than like 5 songs to qualify.

    Rush

That's much more scientific. I just based those qualitative ratings on vibes. :D

    Anthrax

New song: More interesting than the first, sounds very little like Anthrax. Still sounds like a song John Bush should be singing, though...

    Rush

    There we have it, my random Rush speed run is complete! Final rankings (stealing @Jer's idea here since I think it's nice): 01. Moving Pictures - 9.2 > 02. Permanent Waves - 9.0 > Excellent 03. Grace Under Pressure - 8.7 > 04. Clockwork Angels - 8.5 > 05. Hemispheres - 8.5 > 06. Signals -...

    Rush

Grace Under Pressure (1984) Distant Early Warning - 10/10 Afterimage - 10/10 Red Sector A - 10/10 The Enemy Within - 10/10 The Body Electric - 8/10 Kid Gloves - 7/10 Red Lenses - 5/10 Between the Wheels - 10/10 Album rating - 8.7/10 One of my truest Rush loves remains just that - a haunting...

    Rush

I adore the song but I can see your point. I think this actually happens a lot on later Rush albums. The bridges just kind of coast. They don’t go where you want them to and I feel like it’s usually Alex just kind of hanging back when he should let loose. This feels like the mission statement...
