Out of curiosity, what do you dislike about the vocals in All Nightmare Long? The only thing I notice is what might be obvious pitch correction in the choruses.
Ah fuck it, I'm voting for Sabotage. That song is fun!
I'm bored of NWOBHM, and the Tygers of Pan Tang song, while pretty good, is doing very little for me. I'd rather explore Immortal.
"Oh, Love Bites! I like that one. I wonder what it's up against... oh." The first power metal song I ever...
The thrashier songs on the B-side are what draw me to the album these days. Phantom Lord and Metal Militia have recklessly riding riffs, over-the-top teenage enthusiasm and choruses that stick in my head.
FullMoon is the score to a video I love: a montage of combos from the Fist of the North Star fighting game. The video's intro is all drama, with fitting cuts and transitions between scenes. It takes itself completely seriously, which turns its inherent cheesiness into something I love...
I've been getting really into fighting games this past year, and it's all because of Guilty Gear. One day I heard this:
and I was hooked. It was strong heavy metal with all the drama of anime, and I wanted to hear more. That led me to the Guilty Gear Strive soundtrack, then to the characters...
I really want to vote for Duality here - it's one of my favorite nu metal songs. The chorus is wonderful, blending a good melody with a fistful of grit, and the staccato main riff is prime material for me to headbang to. But I love Love Me Like a Reptile too much to not vote for it. The guitar...
The first matchup is a nasty one - Duality is my favorite Slipknot song (to be fair, the competition is rather slim), but I love Love You Like a Reptile. That main riff is pure nasty rock 'n' roll, and I love every bit of the guitar lines and snapping drumbeat.
I didn't have enough time to listen to most of these songs, so I blindly voted for the underdog in most matchups. There were a few, however, where I'd listened to both songs.
Thanks, @JudasMyGuide, for bringing up a Blind Guardian track I'd overlooked on its album. Thorn is lovely and affects...
I listened to Inertia for the first time after reading your comment and wow, what a song. I didn't know Bruce was making music that sounded "fresh" in that '90s way - my experience with his solo work starts at Accident of Birth.
