Great! Thanks. It’s a shame he didn’t keep the Jazz, I really like his tone in the Hawaii videos. And what about his Strats from the ’90s? Is there any confirmed information about the SD pickups, or is it mostly speculation around the JB/'59?

I have a question for Matic, and anyone else who might know! I’d like to revisit the Seymour Duncan pickups Dave has used. I read in this thread that, in the ’90s, he supposedly had an SD ’59 in the neck position. More recently, I also read that his white Strat (the one Colin gave him — the...

So he doesn’t use the green Custom anymore?

I’ve got this about Adrian Smith’s Hamer, in case it helps

Speaking of Les Paul, the ’80s LP owned by Dave that’s shown in the book, what current finish would it correspond to? Heritage Cherry Sunburst?

In Delay mode, press and hold the footswitch for two seconds to switch from bypass to Tap mode. For on-demand Tap Tempo, simply connect an external footswitch. When the DD-3T receives a Tap Tempo signal, delay times of up to 800 ms are available. There are plenty of good YouTube videos that...

The delay should be clean and subtle, used to thicken the solo without overpowering it. Set the pedal to 800 ms mode (or 200 ms for a tighter feel), with the Time knob around 10–11 o’clock to achieve roughly 300–380 ms of delay. Keep the Feedback low, around 9 o’clock, so you only get one or two...

Yeah, it’s just for rubbing the guitar on the stage floor, it’s a Mexican Strat, so he doesn’t damage his Cali

It’s not the same guitar. The one used on LAD is a ’64 Strat - this is a ’62 Strat that was only used at home for the Seventh Son demos. The ’64 is still in his possession, as shown in this Colin Price photo

Awesome, thanks man! Any info on those three white Strats? Also, there’s a white one used during the song “Iron Maiden” at Rock in Rio 1985, but I’ve never been able to figure out which one it was. Thanks again!

Does anyone have more detailed information about these two guitars Dave used around 1980–81? The maple fretboard guitar with two silver humbuckers appears to have been used in 1980, whereas the rosewood fretboard guitar with three single-coils was used in 1981. Thanks guys! Edit: the rosewood...

Does anyone know the current pickup configuration of Davey’s black HSH Custom Shop with the ’70s-style headstock? I remember he’s used a Jazz, a JB, and an Alternative 8 at different times…

I don’t think Mr. Smith quite agrees with you about the comfort or the killer tone of his old guitars
