I was thinking the same thing.

I agree that the highs are higher on TBOS, but I also feel the lows are lower. I find Senjutsu to be, overall, a more consistent album.

Does Lost in a Lost World really have a repetitive chorus though; it's made up of 4 lines repeated 3 times; that's not a lot by modern Maiden standards.

The Parchment mentions "Until we read the Parthian skin"; Parthian is the an empire in Iran, I am curious if this song is intended to tell a story in that location; would also make sense with the middle eastern styled guitars throughout.

During the chorus of Darkest Hour, after Bruce sings Before the dawn the darkest hour, there seems to be some whispering but I haven't quite made out what it says, possible "just before the dawn"? Anyone hear that/figure it out yet?

Right there with you on Bruce holding that final line in The Parchment, gets me every time.

100% agree. It's a fine song, and one of the better ones on VXI, but I feel it is quite overrated.

That's one of the things that has me excited for this new album, and also one of the reasons I enjoy Maiden so much; they do a little bit of everything, and they tend to do it well.

Also interesting as Tool do a very well known cover of that song.

This is my approach as well, and for very much the same reasons you outlined.
