Bruce's Solo Discography Ranked - The Complete List

One final thing before I end tonight's posting spree: there is a song that is currently in the lead because, unlike all the others, it has received nothing but 10s.

Nothing.

But.

10s.

I'm very interested to see if it will keep this up throughout. Whew!
Diesel, I still want to know what this song was.

Hmm...does anyone here think that Tyranny of Souls the song isn't 10?
I think I gave it a 9. Great song, but it drags a bit in the middle, and the chorus doesn't quite hit it out of the park.

31: Back From The Edge
Average Score: 8.1/10
Skunkworks 12/13

Second highest song from Skunkworks; alongside "Space Race" it's the only one not to get a 1 vote. I like it a lot. Probably my favorite from the album. It's easy to see what the highest song from it is now... but where will "Inertia" land?

Funny, I think the chorus is the best part of the song - might even be my favourite chorus from Bruce's entire solo career (in close competition with Chemical Wedding and Book of Thel).
I don't remember what I gave it, but either 8, 9 or 10 I assume.

Hmm, I don't get this at all. "Inertia" has a nice intro and outro, and the beginning of the solo is pretty good; but it has a "meh" verse and an actively grating chorus. There are so many songs on Skunkworks that are so much better than this one. Oh well.

Diesel, don't let it die
It won’t die, lol. I’ve just been busier IRL and more in a Maiden mood lately. Since we’re at the Top 30 now, I don’t want to be lazy with anything just for the sake of finishing the list. But never fear, we’ll finish it by the end of this month at the latest.

Sorry @Jer , this track isn't in the Top 10 after all. It does kick off the Top 30, though! It's a very interesting song for Bruce, not one of the most popular but it's a beautiful piece of music. Originally released as a bonus track on the Japanese Tyranny of Souls, this is now a single from Scream for Me Sarajevo. An appropriate song.

29: River of No Return
Average Score: 8.14/10
Tyranny of Souls 5/10

Probably my least favorite song on TOS. I don't really get what everyone else seems to see in it and I definitely think it's too high. But that's just me.

Choice comments:

This sounds almost like a 70's song mixed with todays heavy metal, atleast
in the introduction. I really love Bruce Dickinsons singing in this one and the
main riff during the verses. Its the "mellow headbanging" song.
"now your lost, and you cant return - The river of no return" are parts of
the chorus. There are some musical additions to the next verse.
The guitar solo is different from other guitar solos - This one seems almost
a little funky, with a great bassline in the background - After the shorter solo
a guitar riff that sounds like something taken out of a dracula movie.
The next guitar solo is a mainstream one that fits the song perfect.
The rest is well.. Not so different from the rest of the song.
Brilliant.
really impressed me.
River Of No Return is a classic, too.

No. "Eternal" is very good, but it's far from perfect, doesn't fit the album at all. "Devil On a Hog" is better.
How does "Devil On A Hog" fit the rest of the album, with its hard rock stylings and its sickly sweet vocal harmonies? I think it sticks out like a sore thumb.

"Eternal" is like a warm, melancholy counterpart to "Believil", and would have worked just fine if it had been tacked onto the end of the album.

"Eternal" feels more like a bonus track, regardless how good it is. "Devil on a Hog" and "Believil" is one of my favorite one/two punches in Bruce's discography.
