Maiden Tour 2014 (SPOILER TAGS REQUIRED WITHIN)

That sounds unlikely harrisdevot. A new album out in 2015 and no gig in Europe in the same year? That'd be a first.

Right Foro, I had completely forgotten the european gigs in 2010, so I thought they would avoid the old continent next year. I would obvioulsly be very happy to see them again supporting their new album.

Bruce said that the fans will "know which one" he was talking about. It doesn't take a genius to work out that it won't be 'Fates Warning'.

Never was a big fan of FOTD from the get go.

I was never a fan of the studio version.... the Rock in Rio live version though, that was awesome! That was probably the best crowd and live recording they have ever done. Their live songs from that album sound better than any other recording of their classics. It was the best live version of Hallowed, The Evil that men do, Wrath child (with Bruce), and Fear of the Dark. The audience made those awesome as did the BNW sounding guitars....

It is one of my favourite live albums, certainly my favourite from Maiden. I adore that version of Hallowed and although I do think Bruce has sounded better on other versions, the guitars are the best on that one for me certainly.

Quality is usually doubled in 2001 RIR. Although I much prefer the studio version of Sign of the Cross, because the audience kills the atmospheric vibe and solos are better. Also Bruce's vocals just don't work with it.

His vocals on Hallowed could have been better but yes, the guitars were heavy and perfect speed for that song. Brilliant!

Sign of the Cross in Rock in Rio is one of the best things to ever happen to mankind. The solos are better on the album? :funnypost::bigsmile:

Sorry bro, in the studio version the solos are much cleaner and melodic, especially Janick's lead. At RIR I hear a flurry of sixteenth notes, but lacking the same emotion and melody. It's mainly the vocals that bother me though. Don't get me wrong, Bruce is infinitely a better singer than Blaze, no contest. But at RIR he still tries to keep singing in regular tenor tessitura that just doesn't match. Not to mention he sounds a bit shrill. Blaze's haunting baritone vocals are so effective in Sign of the Cross. Furthermore, this particular song's atmosphere is crucial for my tastes and isn't the same live. Also I swear there's a segment of Sign of the Cross at RIR where the audience is clapping on 1&3, haven't watched it in a while though so might be wrong on that.

Bring it on, bitch. :fencing:

The vocals are powerful as heck both live and on the album. Which you like better is just a matter of taste. People clapping and whistling and whatever at the beginning of Sign always warms my heart. I'm not sure what clapping on 1&3 means. Dave's solo is an orgasmic piece of art live. While not bad in studio, it's just miles better live. It's so good that Janick's solo doesn't even have to be very good. On the whole, the way I see it, RiR has atmosphere turned up to 11. Taste is a word that needs to be used but Sign is the song I would particularly point out on RiR. And bitch? Really?

@Saapanael

It's clapping on beats one and three of the measure, which is not only offbeat but sounds incredibly awkward. Personally I think the studio version is cleaner in respect to Davey's solo. RIR I hear rapid legato sweeps and sixteenth note flourishes but when listening to it it sounds like a huge blur, if that makes any sense. What do you prefer about the live version, because I want to go listen to it again keeping that in mind. Blaze songs are usually a helluva lot better with Bruce, both musically and vocally, but something in RIR Sign of the Cross sounds out of place.

And bitch? Really?

The quality of the solos on the live or studio version is seriousness business my friend.
