It's mostly Rob, I think, who has an unhealthy relationship with those records. He has refused to listen to them at all because "it is too painful".

There are more songs that are very likely to be played, but they're not guaranteed at this point of their career:
1. Painkiller (not performed on the 2nd Firepower leg in the US and during the final 50HMY leg)
2. Victim of Changes (used to be a live staple until 2018, since the Firepower tour they've been rotating it with Sinner or they don't play any of them)
3. Metal Gods (again: not a live staple anymore, played only few times post-Firepower)
4. Turbo Lover (same case as Painkiller)

There are songs that used to be played very, very often, but not anymore:
1. The Green Manalishi (pretty much every tour since Killing Machine)
2. Heading Out to the Highway (after the Epitaph tour, Desert Plains is the more popular choice from Point of Entry)
3. Beyond the Realms of Death (post-RoS it was only played in the USA in 2022; I assume they don't like performing this one without Glenn)
4. Diamonds and Rust (similar to The Green Manalishi, played at most of their tours, but it doesn't appear on the setlist as often as it used to - after Epitaph the only tour that featured Diamonds and Rust was the anniversary one)

Ever since 2018 they tend to drop some of the evergreens in favor of new stuff and rarities. This is actually pretty interesting because you'd expect the opposite.

Yes,so 5 to 9. The second list of the songs are played almost all tours. So maybe 5 to 9 songs left 5 songs to play and could be the expected.

They're afraid of the Ripper era because it was a truly bloody affair. Whitechapel levels of bloody.

Ah well, to be fair, Halford, Ian and Ken jointly decied to go with the name Judas Priest, of the former pub band Ken and Ian briefly played with for a couple of years. While bits of that music made its way onto Rocka Rolla and SWoD, one certainly can make the case that Halford, Ian, Ken and John Hinch is the original lineup, a separate entity from the Al Atkins thing - that's how I view it anyway.
 
Rob and the band ignoring those albums is better for everyone. Not because Rob wasn’t a part of them, but because the Ripper albums are trash.

Should they acknowledge the existence of those albums? Sure. Should they ever play any of those songs ever again? Absolutely not. At your average gig, maybe 1 in every 100 fans would want to hear those songs. And that’s being generous.

This is probably true, though Burn in Hell goes down great with KK's Priest.

I agree with paragraph #2. They should at least keep the Ripper albums in print so those who enjoy them or are just curious can still access them. It also seems so petty to try to just erase that era from the band’s history. Own it, FFS — you left the band and they had a life without you for a while by your own choice!
 
I have watched a few clips on Youtube of the new Priest tour as we are considering seeing them in Pula whilst on holiday next month.You really see how good a show the current Maiden one is as a spectacle compared to Priest, big screen and all.

I know Rob is older than Bruce and i aren`t knocking him but he`s so slow and static and with no real theatrics to speak of it does make it a tad dull for me. Even Janick`s goofing about brings a bit of energy which seems lacking from the Priest show.

Just an observation , still legends of the game like.

I'm glad Bruce and the band didn't take the Rob route in regards to the Blaze era. Frankly I'm not a big fan of that era but it's part of Maiden's history. I'm even less of a fan of the Ripper era though I do like him as a vocalist. Those two albums I never listen to, Cathedral Spires being the one song I truly like. The double live album they did is really good, however.

They did include the Ripper albums in their full discography boxset not too long ago. Idk if you can get them separately though.
 
Cathedral spires is literally the only good song from the Ripper era. I heard from someone that even Rob said he would be open to singing it. Not sure if it is true or not. If true it would mean that he did listen to at least the Jugulator.
