Songs considered a "filler" track you actually do enjoy?

Dick Brucinson

The TRUE Dick Brucinson
Are there any songs commonly agreed to be an album "filler track" that you do enjoy a lot, and that's actually more than just an average song for you? For me, that’s definitely the case with "The Prophecy."

Prodigal Son
Quest For Fire
Sun And Steel
The Duellists
The Prophecy
Hooks In You
Childhood´s End
The Unbeliever
I have to strongly disagree about The Duellists and Childhood's End. Those are definitely not filler. Also, Sun and Steel doesn't deserve that much bashing.

Does Iron Maiden have songs that are actually confirmed as fillers? A filler isn’t a song that is always poor quality. Smoke on the Water is a filler and that’s regarded one of the greatest rock songs ever.

Quest For Fire
The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
The Prophecy
Public Enema Number One
Childhood's End
The Aftermath
Don't Look To The Eyes Of A Stranger
Gates Of Tomorrow
Lost In A Lost World

I suppose for the sake of this we are considering Lesser Spotted Album Tracks as filler, probably ones not played live.

Personally I love Invaders and Gangland. Ferocious NWOBHM bangers.

Shadows of the Valley, one of the most critisied songs on the album is one of my favourites on that album.

Also a large fan of Educated Fool and Eyes of a Stranger, which get heavily criticised. Well, one does anyway, can't remember which one is most scorned.

Prophecy and OTGDY if they count as filler. Both fantastic songs, for me.

But yeah, Invaders and Gangland would be my picks of lower ranked Maiden songs that I adore.

You're not having The Aftermath as filler, no ma'am. It was played live throughout the tour and there was even an official live release of it. Can't be filler, surely. Stricken from the record!

Funny how Powerslave is considered by many to be Maiden`s best album yet there`s a couple of songs that I`ve quite constantly seen referred as filler - The Duellists and Back in the Village.

The Duellists has Adrian and Dave literally duelling in the instrumental section, and it`s phenomenal.

Back in the Village has one of the nastiest Iron Maiden riffs ever written.

Yah, this is it. They surely suffer from the fact that they are sandwiched in between 4 all time classics, classics of the genre even. They definitely do feel like a step below the big 4 for me but we're talkin the difference between B+ and A+ really.

That's why I said about Lesser Spotted Songs cos 'filler' seems really harsh for me when it comes to Maiden songs.

In my book they´re not fillers either but I guess they don´t get the praise they deserve. Sun And Steel is amazing.
Hmm, there's a fat red line... no, a deep ditch, actually... between songs that don't get enough praise and songs that are more or less obvious fillers.

See, Gangland does fill like filler to me, and honestly, so does Invaders, mainly due to the fact that I don`t think its a good album opener, much less a good introduction for Bruce to the band, which is why I don`t hold Number of the Beast as high as the other 80s records.

That first "CHILDREN OF THE DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMNED!" THAT is where we really first get to meet Mr Dickinson.
