Mandrake Project wasnt well received by majority of IM fans

Smith/Kotzen is a good project but their latest album sounded more like a kotzen album featuring smith.

Dave Murray retirement is bs honestly. People should stop spreading this bc is baseless. Plus, Dave still looks happy to keep touring with the band (at least it looks like on video messages he recorded in the last tours).

British Lion will continue after IM, its Steves plan B that will become A at some point.
I don't get that guys logic. So after this tour all the guys will continue with less popular and less marketable things that will make them a lot less money and maiden is over

This does not necessarily mean "oh my god steve, fire me please!"
First off, he can't be fired because he has an ownership stake in the band/corporation.

Secondly...your comment is a ridiculous non-sequitor. A desire to spend less time on the road as one approaches 70 shouldn't be conflated with planning to quit. They've spoken of doing shorter tours than in decades past for some time now.

Another non-sequitor. Ever since "The Final Frontier," this forum has speculated on when the band will retire. I remember someone specifically believing "Empire Of The Clouds" seemed like a coda for the band. Obviously it wasn't but ever since people speculate because the reality is that they cannot go on forever.

It's a fair guess that at this point, the band are all financially well-established so whatever projects they take on won't have to be on the level of Maiden to be considered successful for them. The point is, they're branching out and doing other stuff, not that they're quitting Maiden.

I swear there's always one. No matter what forum, subject or genre there's always that one who decides to start some BS that amounts to nothing.

Do me a favor; just block or ignore me. I don't know you to argue with you, especially when you're misquoting me.

We're on the cusp of what promises to be a great tour by our favorite band, people are anxious and excited, and YOU decide to play Forum Truth Cop. AND have the audacity to be wrong! Jeezus.

So anyway; back to the tour. Won't be long now...

Yes, if someone makes something up that the band never said, then I will play truth cop, because if we just make stuff up they never said, there is no point in discussing the band.

And if I am wrong, then cite the interview where the band talked about Dave wanting to spend more time with his grandchildren.

Besides, you brought up these points before the first day of the tour, not me.

Before, you said ‘retirement’, not shorter tours.
And the solo projects aren't starting now, they've been around for a long time.
I particularly remember or found interesting the interview with Steve, where he sounds like he's looking for a way to still be able to tour at 100.

That is a good point. In the retirement discussions it always seems like some band members are starting to do solo projects lately.
Also, we know that there will be another solo album from Bruce. Whether there will be another Smith/Kotzen album is not even clear.

Please stop quoting my posts and trying to pick apart my words and go back to speculating about the tour. Seriously. Let's enjoy the fact that the band is still around for us to all enjoy, hopefully for a long time to come.

Maybe. And maybe this would be more interesting & fullfilling for them. So, at this stage of their career, why not?

I mean - If I would be at age and level of maiden guys - why would I choose to travel around the world with super demanding job if I could, I don't know, spend rest of my life drinking brandy & playing golf? I'm not saying 'I want to leave immediately' but as you get older option number two can seem more and more tempting and there's nothing unusual about that after 50 years of hard work.

Someone just leaked it on Reddit, taken from a photo of the setlist taped to the stage tonight.

Aces High
Wrathchild
Two Minutes
Madness
TNOTB
Heaven Can Wait
Sign of the Cross
Clansman
Evil
Fear of the Dark
Hallowed
Trooper
RTTH
Iron Maiden
Encore : Wrathchild (again)

Not really, but you guys can’t possibly be disappointed now after considering the possibility of sitting through that fucking pathetic setlist.
Wrathchild twice?

I'm betting they'll play at least one song from the No Prayer album. Logically, since they said it's a hits tour, it'll either be Bring Your Daughter... or, who knows, they might surprise us with Holy Smoke.

Just curious, why no BQoBD?

Rue Morgue would be sick, I'd love that!
Hello, I quite like BQoBD (as a nostalgic track from childhood, rather than something I love for its own sakes today)

Objectively, maiden and Bruce have shown that track no love at all for a very long time.
- they last played it in august 1993 at Raising Hell
- they last featured it on Best of the Beast expanded edition in Sept 1996
- and Steve once slightly disparaged it for having less melody than other fast Maiden songs in a Kerrang interview

So why would they suddenly resurrect it now for the 50th anniversay?

I didn't think NOTB worked well as an opener at all when I saw the 2003 Download show. They just walked out anti-climatically into broad daylight, the intro tape isn't a very good build up on its own for the start of a show.
I think Trooper would be a better opener than Number. Even Wrathchild. I think the opener should be different from the ones from their History tours so far (you know, specific openers). They are the most popular, but something different. Aces in 2018 was a different case because of the prop.

I'm starting to think the start of the show is going to be like ''early days heavy'', so to speak.
I think there is a reason BQOBD hasn't been played since 93, they don't seem that fond of it, there isn't real justification to randomly pull it out again on a 50th anniversary tour when many other songs could fill it's place.
I think the only reason it's advertised as from Iron IM to FOTD is because the title track was certain to be played, it wouldnt surprise me seeing nothing else from that album or No Prayer tbh
Yeah, 80's vs 90's songs, but isn't the point of this Hits tour to feature songs from all albums, since they are only selecting from half of their discography? And Be Quick in particular is one of the most popular 90's songs, I bet. And it's a great encore opener too. After bringing back the SIT songs after so long, why not a popular 90's song, especially if they play a song from NPFTD and if the set is more than 15 songs.

Because it's it turn? Now is a good opportunity. Like could have been in 1999, when the theme was similar, in a way.
However, if they don't play anything from NPFTD, it would be absolutely ridiculous.
But yeah, I think and hope (!) they will play at least one. I'm all for rarities, even though I don't like the album very much.
This.
Moonchild is "too 7th son vibe" song and really don't fit for this tour
I see Seventh Son more than Moonchild for this tour.
Funnily enough I think most NPFTD and FOTD material could work really well with Bruce's current voice.
You have a point.

It’s on the single disc Best of the Beast and the From Fear to Eternity compilation. It opens the second disc of the latter.

Edit. It is also on the Ed Hunter and Essential Iron Maiden compilation albums. It wasn’t on Edward the Great.

While I agree partially it got me thinking. On what tour could they have included the song? I personally can't really think of any tour from 93 up until now that would have "fitted" the song.
LOTB tour. If only they have done a short tour for the 90's. Maybe DOD tour too. Let's not forget the example with Afraid in 2012.
