We all know that the albums name is Tyranny of souls so that is no news.

1. Mars Within (intro) (1:29)

This song starts with some very smooth effect, an interesting way to start.
Sort of like a "wind" that blows. It is hard to find out what Bruce dickinson
really is singing but it is something like: "Cradle of mind where are you".
I doubt that is what he is singing tho. After the soft lyrics and interesting
intro it splashes into Heavy Metal, but not for long . I give this song
a 6/10 - Great as an album opener - but not more than that.

2. Abduction (3:50)

This song one of my favorite on the whole album. It starts with some chords
and a main riff, hard to explain. "what do you want from me" is part of the
chorus lyrics. This is truly a fast paced song with typical Bruce Dickinson
instrumental and lyrically. And to my favorite part - The guitar solo -
I guess that it is Roy Z, because i recognize some of that material. Well,
all i can say is that it is a fast song just the way i like it
I give it 8/10 for practically everything in the song.

3. Soul intruders (3:52)

Another short song that starts off, the first thing i noticed is that the rhytm
is slightly Metallica-kind, that thrashy chordfollow, the drumming - This
quickly changes to general bruce dickinson. The verses are short, first line is
"We ride the cosmic streams of time". General verse is 4 lines until the bridge,
i think they could have skipped that part. And the chorus, is the most interesting
part of the song, it is what made this song fulfilled - "Souul intruders".
It seems like they have had put much into theses short 4 minutes so it seems
longer than it actually is. The solo is fast and very heavy metal. but far too
short. I give this song 7/10 - Great song - But too short!

4. Kill devil hill (5:07)

The intro of "kill devil hill" is almost like the one to Mars Within.
The mellow thing that makes you want to keep listening. This changes to
Heavy Metal, like typical maiden songs, first mellow and soft than Heavy.
(i do not say that the song could as well be done by Iron Maiden). The
Verses are stiff, and the verseguitars are distorted. the chorus goes something
like "My fate is straight as an arrow" and some more. The first 3 minutes are
pretty repetive, but that changes to the kind of mellow part in the beginning,
and it starts almost sounding like something composed in Medieval.
The guitar solo is very soft, this is definetley my favorite part of the song.
It gives a cool way of fading out the song.
I give this song 8/10 - Some riffs were great others not as great.

5. Navigate the seas of the sun (5:51)

This is the softest song on the album, the epical one. It starts of acoustic,
and goes slightly electric guitar. Not that it goes HEAVY METAL, but it is fairly
noticable. The first verse were calm and quite - The chorus were not like
Really different from the verses. I suppose this song is about living a
society on a ship, the "Our sons will keep on sailing our ships" (something
like that) proved alot. Not much changes during the song but the solos are nice.
First an electric one, in the same rhytm , and a smaller acoustic one. Just
great. Bruce dickinson and whoever else helped to write this song managed
to keep it calm and without going overboard. I give this song:
8/10 - A well done song. Nice for your ears.

6. River of no return (5:13)

This sounds almost like a 70's song mixed with todays heavy metal, atleast
in the introduction. I really love Bruce Dickinsons singing in this one and the
main riff during the verses. Its the "mellow headbanging" song.
"now your lost, and you cant return - The river of no return" are parts of
the chorus. There are some musical additions to the next verse.
The guitar solo is different from other guitar solos - This one seems almost
a little funky, with a great bassline in the background - After the shorter solo
a guitar riff that sounds like something taken out of a dracula movie.
The next guitar solo is a mainstream one that fits the song perfect.
The rest is well.. Not so different from the rest of the song.
This song i give 9/10 - Brilliant.

7. Power of the sun (3:29)

"woroah..laa..loaaa.." the song starts not like you think a song starts.
Bruce dickinson starts by singing "wwooh haa" something, and i[/b]t erupts into
some computer effect slur. It sounds better than you may think and it was
done the right way. Next comes a Heavy riff.
"is this the citadel, is this a prison cell" is the first line from the verse.
The bridge is a little out of tune but not in a bad way, and that comes to
the chorus that sounds like a chorus should do - Melodic and fast.
The guitar solo after another verse bridge and chorus is a fast headbanger,
together with the bassline in the background. The next part of the guitar solo
provides some kind of "heroic" thingy, as if "I will save this village from that!".
Hard to explain. "The power of the sun.. that keeps us moving on".
9/10 - Im smiling over here. The song ends the way it began.

8. Devil on a hog (4:01)

A sort of AC/DC mixed with todays metal. It is hard to hear the drumming during
the verse so it sounds pretty quite this one. This is almost like an Rock n roll song
but without that fancy "car, party, beer, girls" part. It is comparable to Tatooed
millionaire, the chorus are happy and "proud" sounding.
The musical part are great, takes your mind off the lyrics (hrm..) i think i heard
something about One night stand, but ill just ignore that. Theres not much to say
about this song. My absolute favorite part - The fast HELL YEAH guitar solo
that sounds like Slash from Guns n Roses is just perfect for this song. The rest
is pretty much like the rest of the song.
8/10 - Well done!.

9. Believil (4:50)

I dont like the intro riff. It is way too "under" the earth, the underwater type.
Bruce dickinsons voice is clear - But it is way too "evil" sounding - That could
have been reduced. The chorus is uninteresting, and so is the drums. I guess
there's not so much good to say about this song, sorry. It is just too boring,
and could might as well be put as a B-side. The lyrics tho, are poetically
great, and i guess that saved the song. I couldnt hear no guitar solo.
5/10 - No thank you.

10. A tyranny of souls (5:47)

The first riff is similar to Believils one but musically
A minute into the song the music becomes Iron Maiden type - The chords
are similar to some maiden material. That lifted the songs 10 meters into
the air, so to say. This is a great outro song, it really is. It sort of provides us
with "We will come again.. hahaahhahahaaa". You'll hear for yourself.
8/10 - Well done, Bruce and the boys.
--------------------------------

Well, all in all i will give this album 8/10 - But i just know that it will grow with time
just like the rest of Bruce Dickinsons music did, atleast with me.

Thanks, i had fun writing this. CHeers!
