Maiden Japan questions

Hi!

A while ago, I got the 2-cd version of Killers (1995, us edition). On disc two, there are 8 bonus tracks, including all the five tracks originally released in the us-version of Maiden Japan. The euro version omits Wrathchild, always has.

I was just wondering, is this 2-cd version the only place where you can find Wrathchild (live japan '81) on cd officially?

Also, does anyone have info on the alternate Maiden Japan-cover (the one where Di'Anno has been decapitated?) Was it actually officially released or pulled back? http://www.popsike.com/pix/20060810/150021256312.jpg

It reminds me of the live Fear of the Dark-single cover, where Bruce gets more or less the same treatment.

Don't know about Wrathchild but the cover of decapitated Di'Anno was officially released in Venezuela, but was very shortly after that re-done because the band was actually looking to replace Di'Anno at the time and no else knew and they didn't want to spread rumors/news through the cover.

Yes, but just how many real ones there are out there, and whether you'll actually ever get your hands on one is another question.

@Perun
That's a good question. Is there anyone on this forum who has one?
Are these photos authentic? http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=2146924
Now all I need is someone lending me 1000 euros... There's one for sale in France:p

Yet, on the other hand, if someone simply likes that specific cover picture and gets it at a cheap price, does it really matter? (Except for the question of moral, do you want to support the band or some random bootlegger. On the other hand, if it's a used copy, I doubt the band gets any more money on it anyway...)

I don't know - I certainly don't have one.
But I'm not a hardcore record collector, so I have no idea how to tell whether one is genuine or not.

Are there any other rare but official single/album covers that have been released somewhere around the world or is the Di'Anno-Maiden Japan a unique case?

I remember seeing Riggs' artwork for Fear of the Dark (Eddie as a vampire), but I don't think that ever materialised as an actual lp cover.

@Cosmiceddie Cool. A true collector! Is it okay to ask how much you had to pay for the original edition? When did you get it? How much was the cheapest version of the bootlegs?

For a near mint and an excellent condition copy of the genuine 'Maiden Japan' record I paid $666 each.

The cheapest and also best quality bootleg was only $50! You might still get a copy on eBay from a French seller with user ID 'vinyl-time'.
