Language topic

I could distinguish between pretty much all European languages but I was woeful at the Asian ones.

700. I could tell Ukrainian apart from Russian and Macedonian from Bulgarian.

Tell me about it. In another go, I had the option between Kannada, Shona and Swahili. I guessed that Kannada, as a language spoken on the Indian subcontinent would lack aspirations, and that turned out to be correct - but damn me if I can distinguish a Dravidian two Bantu languages in writing... I didn't even know Shona was Bantu until I looked it up, I'd have put it in the Nilo-Saharic area.

Kurdish, Dari and Punjabi on the other hand... child's play.

Gah! 850 in my second attempt. But how I am supposed to distinguish between Burmese, Fijian, Korean and Sinhalese?

Burmese is Sino-Tibetan, Fijian is Austronesian, Korean is Koreanic and Sinhalese is Indo-European. They couldn't be more different. :p
