worst-virtual xi

I would have piece of mind in there, and also brave new world. But still everyones different,so not to bad, though ive never loved powerslave that much, other then the obvious famous songs of it,to me it had to much filler.
As to the songs thats not a bad mix, though i would also have children of the damned, flight of icarus in there to.Funny how kerrang seems to be trying to please fans of old school metal more these days, probaly because its getting big again, but ill never forgive them for abandaning maiden and more typical metal back in the dark days of the 90s.

why do all magazines seem to think that the maiden albums with blaze are the worst....In my opinion they are 2 of the best....both in my top 5

Total duration of that mix CD above: 2 hours, 14 seconds.
I don't know of any CD that can hold that much music.

By coincidence, I recently created my own mix CDs to listen to in my car.
It's a 3-CD set; each has a duration between 78 and 80 minutes.
Every album is represented by at least 2 songs.

CD 1:
Prowler
Remember Tomorrow
Phantom Of The Opera
Sanctuary
Wrathchild
Murders In The Rue Morgue
Killers
The Prisoner
22 Acacia Avenue
The Number Of The Beast
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Where Eagles Dare
Revelations
Die With Your Boots On
The Trooper

CD 2:
Aces High
2 Minutes To Midnight
Powerslave
Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Wasted Years
Heaven Can Wait
Stranger In A Strange Land
Moonchild
Infinite Dreams
Can I Play With Madness
The Clairvoyant
Run Silent Run Deep
Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter

CD 3:
Be Quick Or Be Dead
Afraid To Shoot Strangers
Fear Of The Dark
Sign Of The Cross
Lord Of The Flies
Futureal
The Clansman
The Wicker Man
Brave New World
Dream Of Mirrors
Rainmaker
Paschendale

Now that's the ultimate Maiden mix.

That's a pretty wicked compilation SMX; I think I'd probably only change the odd song - Genghis Khan for Sanctuary, Flight of Icarus for Die With Your Boots On, and all the SIT tracks: I'd put in CSIT, Loneliness..., and Deja Vu.
Good mix though

My choices, based upon 12-15 songs on a high-capicity CDR:

Aces High
Paschendale
Wildest Dreams
Fear of the Dark
Number of the Beast
Brave New World
Flight of Icarus
Powerslave
Alexander the Great
Afraid to Shoot Strangers
The Clansman
Ghost of the Navigator
Wasted Years

Runners up:
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Mother Russia
Futureal
Run to the Hills
The Trooper
Sign of the Cross

I would definitely put in these songs:

Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Powerslave
The Duellists
Hallowed Be Thy Name
To Tame A Land
The Trooper
Alexander The Great
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Deja-Vu
Infinite Dreams

Well, I've created my collection too. It is composed of 06 (six) CDs. The first four are dedicated to studio versions featuring AT LEAST two songs of each album (some got 4). Each one of them has 09 songs. I tried to select songs which were somewhat special for me, but I also tried to follow some guidelines, like trying not chosing "epic" songs (like SOTC or ROTAM), and avoiding title tracks and those songs which were on the Best of The Beast album (but Purgatory, From Here To Eternety, Powerslave and many others are there). I tried to create a good "stream" as if the person listening to these 4 albums would face them as a whole…

The last two Cds are "live" ones. I got some songs from bootlegs I have (Waldrock 2003, Rock in Rio and the like) as well as some songs from official live ones (Donnington, Beast Over Hammersmith). Here I went almost random about the "setlist". I tried to listen each one of my live albums and pick those songs which were the highlight of them. Doing this kind of “perfect gig” separated in two parts, lots of songs with a little editing (cutting rants and/or adding ones).

Since I have a stupid and almost silly sense of humor I named the collection and the CDs with strange, stupid and silly names. You can see the Cds setlists below

I just made a compilation for a friend who is a recent Maiden convert (after I took him to the Dublin gig - he was blown away). He went out and bought Live after Death, Live at Donnington, Edward the Great and the first two albums. He asked me to make no a best of comp or a greatest hits, but one that I thought showed Maiden's musical range, history and styles. My 2 CD list is as follows:

CD1

1. Moonchild
2. Children of the Damned
3. 2 Minutes to Midnight
4. Heaven Can Wait
5. Still Life
6. The Evil that Men Do
7. Seventh Son...
8. Dance of Death
9. The Wickerman
10. Rainmaker
11. Fear of the Dark
12. The Prisoner

CD2
1. Sign of the Cross
2. Charlotte the Harlot
3. Afriad to Shoot Strangers
4. Aces high
5. The Fugitive
6. The Clansman
7. Blood Brothers
8. Ghengis Kahn
9. Wrathchild
10. Brign Your Daughter...
11. Mother Russia
12. Man on the edge
13. Number of the Beast
14. Iron Maiden

I tired ot balance the 'obvious' choices with cult classics among the fans and song I just plain thought sounded good. I had a lot of fun compiling it. I hope he likes it.
