Finally !!!!!! Adrian Smith's Jackson signature model guitar hit the stores !!!!

bad news; really bad...

i just got a call from a sam ash who'd just gotten off the line with fender, and the jackson is listing at $2799, and they say minimum advertised price is going to be $1999, and the final selling price is going to be probably closer to the list than for the advertised; 20% down, and you 'might' get it by may.

it doesn't look like fmic is worried about the difference in the construction between a neckthrough sl1 and a bolt-on strat, and the difference in the cost between the two.

maybe sam ash just talked me out of it...

Whoa !

That's quite expensive...at least for my eyes those 2 guitars don't seem "custom-shopped" to cost more than 2000 bucks. I'd say that an honest price for both would be something around 1300-1500.

Let's wait NAMM 2009. It begins on January 15th, then we will know the price for real.

cheers
Marcus

Now Playing: The Jackson Adrian Smith San Dimas® Dinky™

Jackson couldn’t possibly be more thrilled to at last welcome U.K. metal titans Iron Maiden to the Bloodline in the form of the sleek new Adrian Smith Dan Dimas® Dinky™ signature guitars.

Introduced in January 2009, Smith’s pair of signature Jackson guitars at long last formally cements the relationship between Jackson and one of metaldom’s biggest, most enduring and most beloved acts. Smith’s molten, incredibly fast legato guitar work is an integral part of why Iron Maiden has remained such an influential band over the decades, and the man himself is a most enthusiastic champion of his namesake signature model—as evidenced by its frequent use on Maiden’s top-grossing 2008-2009 Somewhere Back in Time tour.

“When Jackson sent me a prototype of my signature guitar, I liked it right away,” Smith said. “So much so, it became my number one choice onstage for the Somewhere Back in Time tour. It passed the test with flying colors, performing the all-important basics like staying in tune, (having) great electronics and providing me with a great means of expression. It’s one of the loudest guitars I have. I can’t wait until the next tour.”

Based on Smith’s original late ’80s Custom Shop guitar, the Jackson Adrian Smith San Dimas Dinky comes in two Snow White versions—one with an ebony fingerboard, mother of pearl position inlays and single-ply white pickguard; and one with a maple fingerboard, black dot position inlays and single-ply black pickguard. Both models have an alder body and bolt-on quartersawn maple neck with a 12” to 16” compound radius fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets.

The formidable electronics in both guitars comprise a DiMarzio® Super Distortion™ humbucking bridge pickup, single-coil Fender® Hot Samarium Cobalt Noiseless™ Strat® middle and neck pickups, five-way switching, a master volume control and a master tone control.

Other features include a Floyd Rose® Original™ double locking two-point tremolo bridge, Gotoh® die-cast tuners, black hardware and a deluxe molded case.

Iron Maiden formed in 1975 and became one of the biggest bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. After more than 20 albums, the band remains a potent force in metal and a top-selling concert draw. Smith joined Iron Maiden in 1980 and continues to share the stage with vocalist Bruce Dickinson, bassist and founder Steve Harris, and fellow guitarists Dave Murray and Janick Gers.

You can buy it off Thomann.de for €1850.00 EUR including shipping and VAT, and I'm really considering buying one over the next few months. If I do, will post pics for sure.

Ahh, so beautiful yet so expensive...  I might get one in ten years, once I can afford it and my guitar playing actually does it justice. :p

So after a good while note posting, I return with the news that I bought H's guitar about a month ago, the one with the black scratchplate and maple fretboard. I have to say, it really is a beautiful guitar, and sounds unbelievably perfect for Maiden songs (as you'd expect). I don't know what else to say about it really, except that its great to play, looks amazing and is well worth the money it costs.

I'd prefer Dave's Strat.

If I had to go with an Adrian guitar, I'd want his LP Goldtop.

Either way it doesn't matter to me because I'm getting a Gibson SG Classic Custom soon...

The H Jackson is beautiful, but seems a bit overpriced to me. For about £610 you can buy a Charvel SoCal, a guitar of pretty much the same quality(both the Charvel and the Jackson are made by the same company). Sure you don't get the HSS setup of his signature, but the Charvel is wonderfully H-y and is a cheaper alternative:

There's also the Fender HSS Strat with Floyd for about £530:

I'd have bought one by now, but I'm just not a Floyd kind of guy. Besides, I have two Strats already based on his sunburst and white Fenders he used for the BNW tour.
