Favorite bands

Top three (Maiden aside)...

Metallica
Kreator
Slayer

Each band sort of vies for second place from time to time and at present, Metallica is there.

1. Iron Maiden
2. Dream Theater

#3 would be tough. There are a few contenders...
Genesis
Frank Zappa
Led Zeppelin

So that's my #3 - #5, but I'm not sure about the order.

I literally just discovered this band tonight, Sabaton.

Anyone else heard of them or are fans? I'm going to buy Coat of Arms. I'm immediately hooked.

Their lyrics are particularly intriguing... WW2 and history - yes please.

1.  Iron Maiden
2.  Blind Guardian
3.  Emperor

That it as of today.  Maiden has been my favorite since 1991, the rest seem to rotate.  I dig most of the other classic metal bands too (Priest, Sabbath, etc) just not as much as those three.

Iron Maiden
Bullet For My Valentine
All That  Remains
Rise To Remain
Bruce Dickinson
Avenged Sevenfold
Metallica

I only respect two bands on this list, and both are Iron Maiden related. :p I feel rude all of a sudden.

1. Iron Maiden
2. Judas Priest (would've had a shot at number one were it not for their lack of consistency)
3. Bruce Dickinson
4. Rush
5. Megadeth
6. Deep Purple
7. Blackmore's Night
8. Yngwie Malmsteen
9. UFO/MSG
10. Dio
(11. Black Sabbath)

For now at least.

I love both heavy metal and funk rock, call me a freak if you wish.  :p

1.Iron Maiden
2.John Frusciante
3.The Red Hot Chili Peppers
4.Bruce Dickinson
5.Jimi Hendrix
6.System of a Down
7.Serj Tankian
8.Iced Earth
9.Dio
10.Funkadelic

Heard them, saw them live (at Sonisphere) and looking forward to their tour in October. Great band, although cheesy as hell.

As for the original question, I guess it would be:

Iron Maiden
Queen
Black Sabbath (Dio-era, then every era)
