Blaze Bayley

Blaze Bayley's concert in Toulouse on march 7th has been cancelled by the french venue, that has been put on liquidation last year in october.

There's a TBC date listed among his French dates, any idea what city that is in?
I think it's Chez Paulette, as on the tour poster Blaze has posted on his FB last year this venue hasn't been announced. So, I'm quite sure the TBC is for Chez Paulette. :)

A lot of news in todays Blaze newsletter. Single, album, tours :

Those of you with a keen eye will have noticed the Celtic symbols/rhunes on our social media. Thank you for your patience as we left those teasers unexplained in the build up to our big news. Some of you of course soon understood & spotted the occasional reference from our distributors' website.

The official press release has also been issued this morning & is repeated here for those of you interested in the full script...

Metal Hall of Fame inductee Blaze Bayley (Iron Maiden singer 1994-1999) releases the first single & video 'Circle of Stone', confirming his forthcoming new album of the same name, whilst also revealing Niklas Stalvind of Swedish metallers Wolf, as guest vocalist.

The single is available now for pre-save & streaming on digital platforms, whilst options for Vinyl LP & CD (including a special Limited Edition bundle) are live now at www.blazebayleyshop.com . Official album release date is 23rd February 2024.

Fans will discover that the new album features some of Blaze's best ever vocal performances, & the combination of vocals with Niklas Stalvind is nothing short of a revelation. The video, produced by Lion Island Media (Chelmsford, UK), is also superbly executed.

Recent times have been a roller-coaster ride for Blaze. Following on from the successful 'Infinite Entanglement' trilogy (2016-2018), around which interest in his career was clearly elevated, he then moved further forward with the critically-acclaimed 'War Within Me' album (2021), whilst touring worldwide. However, he then suffered a severe heart attack early in 2023, requiring life-saving quadruple bypass surgery. Recovery was slow but 6 UK shows towards the end of 2023 felt like a real triumph, quickly followed by a tour with his original (pre-Iron Maiden) band Wolfsbane.

Thankfully, the recording of the new album had been completed just 2 days before the heart attack & the record was put on the 'backburner' whilst health matters & recovery progressed. Blaze's regular team recorded the album with Christopher Appleton (of UK band Absolva) engineering, mixing & co-producing with Blaze (split between their home studios in Manchester & Birmingham respectively), & Ade Emsley mastering. Christopher Appleton also played lead guitar alongside his brother Luke Appleton on power guitar, Martin Mcnee on drums & Karl Schramm on bass.

The artistic talent of Akirant Illustration has again been justifiably trusted for the excellent coverart & layouts.

Meantime fans should expect a second single, video & a little more information soon.

A really interesting, catchy and pure Blaze song. The structure is well thought out. The chorus is anthemic, just what the song needs. I don't think the guest vocals were needed though. The riffs and solos are as always great. But the highlight are the melodies - bring those Maiden melodies, Blaze! So good. This is a perfect example of how an actual instrumental section can greatly help a (shorter) song!!

I'm a fan of the album's theme. Celtic! The song titles are interesting. The album cover is cool (could have had some kind of a creature/warrior though). His recent albums are really good so I expect more of the same. Blaze proves himself once again, he deserves all the success. I expect some longer songs, but I'm not sure.

It's a pity that he wont do a tour to support the previous album, which was great in my opinion. The fact that he is been sitting on this album since his heart attack makes me think that he should have wait even longer to release it. Is he trying to precede Bruce before the latter take all the spotlights?

Can someone please teach whoever mixes and produces this not to overdo the pitch correction. It ruined War Within Me and this borders on doing that as well. Otherwise, good song with a decent enough production.

That's the shows starting in september. He has not been touring that much 2020-2023 for obvious reasons, I think it's smart to kick of the intense touring with a Maiden setlist! Then they can tour Circle of Stone from september 2023 well into 2024!
