    Misheard lyrics

I had always thought the NOTB lyric was "a reflection of my war friends staring back at me"

Congrats to Maiden for winning a Grammy!

I guess it is pretty nifty, but then again, this is the same award that was given to Jethro Tull in its debut year, so it can't really mean all that much in the long run.  What's more impressive is that IM continues to sell albums and sell out major venues when they go out on tour, without...

Threshold, Within Temptation members record acoustic version of Maiden Classic

From what I've heard, I like it.  It's refreshing to see bands do versions of IM classics that are both different, but also grounded in the original.  Too many bands go for carbon copies, or alter it into something unrecognizable. Not on the release, I caught this killer rendition of Wasted...

    A Whim and a Prayer

I can't even tell you why the album attracted me, because I hadn't heard much from Iron Maiden when I picked up Live After Death sometime in 1987.  But i picked it up, and I was easily blown away at how awesome it sounded, and I've been a Maiden Fan ever since.  Incidentally, I had the same...

What Iron Maiden song you heard first?

I'd have to say the first one that I remembered hearing is Wasted Years.

    A 90's Flashback Tour Setlist?

Like I said, It is probably unlikely, but then again Maiden has had a habit of doing unlikely stuff in recent tours. A band that's been around since the late 70's releases an album in 2006 that gets solid reviews, but nothing blowaway.  They get the first chance to do a true headlining tour of...

Deconstructing Eddie: My Iron Maiden Songs & Albums Countdown

When I saw that HCW was so low, I initially was outraged, but after thinking it over a bit, I realized that the positioning is probably right (although at least one other SIT song should be lower==like Deja Vu).  This is one of the songs that comes across a lot stronger live than on the album...

    A 90's Flashback Tour Setlist?

I went with songs they've done live before, and in the case of the Blaze material, songs that Bruce has done live (with the exception of Edge of Darkness, which I think he could do an awesome job.

what is the best live version of hallowed be thy name

I gotta go with Live After Death, although that may be because that was the very first album I ever bought of Iron Maiden, and the intensity of all of the songs sticks out in my head more than just about anything else IM did.

    A 90's Flashback Tour Setlist?

This is probably unlikely to happen, but considering the band has done tours focusing on their early years, their golden years, and their reunion material, I was thinking what would a setlist look like that focused on their 90's material.  Here's one that I would think would work: Be Quick or...

Songs that you didn't "get" until seeing them live

I'd have to say Revelations, which I always thought was a decent song, but not as blowaway as their other material.  However, after watching it on the Give Em Ed tour in 2003, and again on Ozzfest, I must say I was very impressed at how well it translates live.

    What was Blaze like live?

I don't remember much from the 1996 gig I saw, but from what I do remember, Blaze sounded passable on the old Maiden stuff, but nowhere at the level of Bruce (duh).   However, he really smoked on TXF material.  On the other hand, it's the classic material that the fans had come to see, and they...

    lets discuss some underrated tunes.

I'd say Wasting Love is perhaps the most underrated IM tune.  It's one of the most beautiful songs they've ever written, and includes a great message.  Bruce's vocals here are out of this world Plus the riff before the solo is a thing of beauty.  Would Stranger in a Strange Land be...

Ronnie James Dio (1942-2010) - The Official Topic

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but his death seems so much more random than usual--even if he was battling cancer.  I'm really glad that I saw Heaven & Hell last summer, so I at least got two chances to see Ronnie James Dio live (the other when Dio toured with Maiden in 2003).  RIP.

Paul Di'Anno to perform ENTIRE debut Maiden album on upcoming Australian tour!

Metallica played Master of Puppets during a handful of select gigs on their European 2006 run. Queensryche did Operation Mindcrime in its entirety, both on the Empire tour in 1991, and on several runs in the last, both as a special treat, and also to accompany Mindcrime II, also performed in...

    New album: The Final Frontier!

Aside from a teaser from Final Frontier, this looks like this is another tour along the lines of "Ed Huntour" or "Give Em Ed" which is good, because that's when they break out some of the lesser plaid classics.  And unlike the Early Days or Somewhere Back on Tour gigs, this won't be focused on a...
