What are your favourite movies?

My top 10:

01. Time Machine (1960)
02. The Fearless Vampire Killers (1966)
03. Westworld (1973)
04. James Bond - Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
05. Time After Time (1979)
06. The Final Countdown (1980)
07. Terminator 2 - Judgment Day (1991)
08. Aliens (1986)
09. The Thing (1982)
10. Knowing (2009)

Phew, great question. I have a hard time picking a favorite movie or three.

Patton, Ghostbusters, Yojimbo, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Star Wars, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, The Blues Brothers, Lawrence of Arabia, Fargo, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Terminator

I might come and put detail into these but I'm incapable of ranking them.

Can't do a top ten but here's a few of my favorites
- Terminator 2 - Judgement Day (1991)
- Deliverance (1972)
- Pulp Fiction (1994)
- Inglorious Bastards (2009)
- Prometheus (2012)
- Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
- Star Wars: A New Hope (1977)
- Interstellar (2014)
- 2001: A Space Oddesey (1968)
- Full Metal Jacket (1987)
- The Big Lebowski (1998)

The Big Lebowski would be my favorite of the bunch. I could probably put the Full Metal Jacket at #2 but as for the rest I would have no idea!

Apocalypse Now is definitely a Top 10 film for me now. Loved every moment, and I was watching the expanded version. Not sure what my Top 10 is currently though...

1. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1966)
2. Pulp Fiction (1994)
3. The Godfather trilogy
4. 007 Goldeneye (1995)
5. Once Upon a Time in West (1968)
6. Superbad (2007)
7. For a Few Dollars More (1965)
8. Seven (1995)
9. Hangover (2009)
10. Guardians of Galaxy vol.2 (2017)
+Handful of dollars (1964), Casino Royale (2006), Pirates of the Caribbean-series
Only 3 movies from my top 10 were made after I was born. And yes, I do love Western movies. I wish Maiden would write a song about outlaws.

It is not a easy task, but here we go:

1.The Mummy trilogy (1999/2001/2008)
2.Pirates of the Caribbean: first 3 films (2003/2006/2007)
3.Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008)
4.Solomon Kane (2009)
5.Van Helsing (2004)
6.Night of the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009)
7.Jumanji (1995)
8.Rush Hour trilogy (1998/2001/2007)
9.The Scorpion King (2002)
10.Constantine (2005)

I am a big fan of the adventurous films.

I've rarely given any thought to what my favourite movies might be, let alone tried putting together a top 5 or top 10. So, the following is just off the top of my head and in no particular order:

-Treasure Island (the one from 1950; Robert Newton is the quintessential pirate for me)
-Star Wars
-The Lord of the Rings-trilogy
-The Conjuring
-Insidious
-Monty Python and the Holy Grail
-The Naked Gun-trilogy
-Jurassic Park
-Raiders of the Lost Ark
-Sinister
-Troll Hunter

  1. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
  2. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
  3. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
  4. Incident in a Ghostland (2018)
  5. mother! (2017)
  6. The Conjuring (2013)
  7. Titanic (1997)
  8. The Conjuring 2 (2016)
  9. The Lion King (1994)
  10. Hocus Pocus (1993)
Off the top of my head, these are my current favorites.

Glad to see another horror fan :)
I love horror movies! Was even tempted to put the Halloween reboot on the list, but figured I shouldn't since I haven't seen the original yet. I do get scared very easily, but hey, that's the fun part, isn't it? :D

I'm drawn to horror that doesn't rely on "cheap tricks", and preferrably deal with some supernatural force, or something that cannot be explained using regular logic. I guess I have a fascination with anything "strange", cosmic and unknown (which might also explain why Lovecraft is one of my favourite writers). If something manages to build up suspense, tension and terror without blood and gore I'm in!

That being said, there are certainly movies that are regular gore-fests, but still manage to be enjoyable :)

That's something I can understand, but I love gory films as well. The Evil Dead remake is one that I really like, and I also love the entire Scream franchise. I find slasher films to be particularly frightening (if, besides the body horror element, they manage to build enough tension and a sense of realism) because I keep thinking about how something like it might happen any time, but again, I'm a big scaredy-cat when it comes to horror. :p
Y’all horror fans and you don’t even include The Thing (1982). :nonono:
Haven't seen it yet, sorry.
