Tech help with the Remasterd Iron Maiden albums.

Mega

Ancient Mariner
I have several of them, and i can't seem to run them on my computer, to see the extra content.
I guess it means that it's not "old enough", if you can even have such a thing.
I had this program that runs old games but i dont think these discs count because they don't run in DOS.
Does anyone have the discs and knows what to do to open the extra content?

What OS are you running? I am so square I'm using Windows XP, and I have played the extra content on the remasters many times without problems ...

What the what? but i use xp too.
the error is something with not having enough virtual memory. tried googeling it, nothing about a program that runs from a cd, only from the hard drive. The solution for that situation isn't working for me obviously.

Sorry, I'm no computer technician, let's hope LooseCannon reads this. I just wondered how it could be that your computer was too "new" to run the CDs since they run fine on my computer which has XP (which, after all, is the second newest version of Windows) - and that when the remasters were released, in 1998, many people were still running Windows 95 ...

Strange indeed.
To shorten the process for other users who might help, ill say that I tried every compatabillity mode in the properties.

Hey boss.  Can you tell me how much RAM and what your CPU is?  I haven't tried running the remastered stuff in awhile, but I'll dig some out later today for you.

I have this problem too.

They worked fine and then one day about a year ago my pc only recognised the audio tracks. Even if I open the files on the disc only the audio files appear.

Can't remember if it was around the same time as a new Service Pack for Windows, but maybe that has something to do with it?

I remember something about this, but I can't for the life of me remember what you needed to do - I have not played any of the re-mastered CD's in yonks but I do remember there was something you had to do, or tweak. What was the exact error message you had?

I have 2GB of RAM and my CPU is Intel Core 2 duo.

And my error is:
This program requires at least 3MB of free Virtual Memory to run.

Yeah, but with a modern pc you should have at least 1gb set for vram already.  I can't see that actually being the issue.

I already tried that solution but there are 2 problems with it:
1. I have no idea what values should i put there
2. The file opens from a cd and not from a hard drive so nothing will change.

vram does affect running any program, but seriously...hold on.

Yeah, I just pulled it up OK here.  So it works ok on good ol' Vista.

Do you have Quicktime installed?

Locate start.exe on the root of the CD, alt+enter (or right click->properties if in explorer), click on "compatiblity" tab, enable compatibility mode for "Windows 98 / ME", select turning off advanced text services and visual themes.

It should start normally, with some bugs. For instance, i can't exit the program normally, i need to kill it's process via Task Manager.

Are you on XP too, Zare?  I find it shocking to believe it works great on Vista and poorly on XP.

As i have stated before, every combination of V's and OP's on the compatiblity list isnt working.

Yes, i'm running that on XP.

It's a pretty new XP installation. I haven't ran enhanced CD's in years, i tried again when i saw this topic. Upon autorun, the program "Projector Skeleton" crashed. After tweaking with compatibility mode, it fired up.
