SHARON And OZZY Discuss OZZFEST 2005 Feud With IRON MAIDEN

A five-and-a-half minute video clip of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne discussing the infamous Ozzfest 2005 incident when Sharon attempted to sabotage IRON MAIDEN's appearance at the event was recently posted on YouTube. Sharon messed with MAIDEN's sound and had the band pelted with eggs onstage after claiming that lead singer Bruce Dickinson had made disparaging remarks about her husband throughout the tour. The clip, which was recorded on March 10, 2006 during Sharon and Ozzy's appearance on "The Howard Stern Show", can be viewed at

Am I happy that I won't see Ozzy Osbourne this summer. I wouldn't spend a cent on that guy and his witch.

As we know, this incident has been talked to death - but a couple of points I'll wade in with my two pennies worth:

Ozzy: "Do not take Maiden on tour, they are trouble." - are they really that bad? No-one else seems to have a problem with them.

Sharon: "They are jealous of Ozzy - you would not know Bruce if he walked in here right now." - I don't think recognition from the common person is high on their agenda. It's mainly about music for them.

Sharon: "They kept on playing, they were covered in eggs but kept on playing." - That suggests a huge amount of professionalism rather than humiliation.

What happened in the fall-out from this did her no favours at all, yet she still seems to think she was OK in doing it.

Hmm, this video clip just makes me dislike the couple even more.  Sharon actually looks like she still is proud of what she did...

I also hate how much the interviewers are pro-Ozzy and anti-Maiden...

Indeed. One of them is Richard Cristy, a renowned metal drummer (ex-Death, ex-Iced Earth).
The slimy beginning, when he declares that Ozzy is God for him, sets the tone and the intention.

Richard Christy is a douche, he left Iced Earth to be on this stupid show, while his choice, he should've stayed a drummer, at least he was good at that.

A bit of a cringe worthy moment, was that. He never said another word after that moment of gushing. What was going through his mind when Sharon retold her story with a positive spin on it from her viewpoint? He may very well have some respect for Maiden and perhaps was too spineless to tell Sharon how crass her actions that night were.

Not to mention, WTF with the racist babble about the Hispanic kids that threw the eggs? What did them being Hispanic have to do with the larger, dumber act by Sharon? ugh

I sincerely doubt he said that.  Why would he have them on the bill if he didn't think it was a good idea?  Oh, hang on...Maiden would pull more crowds than $haron could ever hope, giving $haron more cash.

Sharon: "They are jealous of Ozzy - you would not know Bruce if he walked in here right now." - I don't think recognition from the common person is high on their agenda. It's mainly about music for them.

Let's be serious; Ozzy is only famous because he whored himself out on MTV.  Sharon is only famous because she did the same and the X Factor on top of that.  Can anyone remember who Sharon's record producing father was?  Doubt it.  Besides, fame and money aren't everything...as I'm sure Sharon can't understand.  Also, the true motive for Bruce's tirade was, as many will be aware, the hypocrisy surrounding Ozzfest which meant the best places were given to company reps who didn't turn up.  I would be pretty pissed if the management had me playing to a half-empty pit.

Also, Sharon and Ozzy confuse Bruce and Maiden repeatedly.  Both admit that Bruce was the problem, yet the whole band were egged.  Plus, wouldn't it have been more professional to deal with it privately, rather than pissing off the very fans that wouldn't have been there, giving $haron her money if it wasn't for Maiden.

And, to end, will she ever shut up about it?  It hardly ruined her life.  At least Maiden had the decency to move on and forget it.

And I second Richard Cristy being a 'tard.  Apparently, all he does on that show is talk about porn, anyway.

Whether he said it at the time or not, I don't know - but he most certainly said it to Howard Stern. But you're right, Ozzfest was on its way down (and it's still going), Maiden were on their way up and they meet at the right time. It was good for them to have Maiden on-board and then Sharon blew it.

That clip just killed any respect for Ozzy I might have had left . The whole interview was obviously anti-maiden, and the way Sharon was proudly describing her actions was pretty sad. And Onhell was right, what's the matter if the 'kids' were Hispanic or not ? The whole thing was very stupid.

Although I think we probably shouldn't discuss this matter since we're giving them too much attention,  after watching this,  there are a few things I'd like to point out.

First,  the fact that they're doing an interview on that show,  shows how low they've gotten.  I searched some clips from Howard Stern's show,  and all I saw was meaningless porn stuff.  Of course,  both Sharon and Stern are great businessmen (and woman).  They produce shitty shows,  and do shit on tv,  but they're the smart ones.  They gain money because there's a load of shitheads watching that stuff.  So,  they whore themselves on tv,  and they just keep on discussing this matter.  They get more fame by doing that.  Of course,  they become more famous among the shitheads,  well we don't give a fuck about them.

Second,  I don't think jealousy has anything to do with the matter.  Osbourne may have sold more albums worldwide (as was the argument of some comments on youtube),  but I reckon that's because that stupid (smart business of course) show gave Osbourne some fame among pop fans.  Hell,  even they might have bought some of his cd's.  What Sharon said about Dickinson,  well it's obviously stupid.  Dickinson is very renowned in the heavy metal world,  and outside of it...

Third,  the racist jokes made about those Hispanic kids.  That was the final blow.  This showed how low class these people are.  I could forgive Osbourne's jokes,  because,  well,  let's just say he's lost it.  But the way Stern spoke is inexcusable,  and Sharon was even worse!  She wasn't making fun of them,  but she acted as if they weren't human beings,  just something disposable.

Well,  let them live their meaningless lives,  Maiden will always be clean,  no matter how much dirt these people throw to them.

Note:  I have some doubts about what Dickinson said.  He does have a big mouth,  there's no denying that.  But I'm not sure whether he went that far (I don't think he did).  Still,  I'm planning on downloading bootlegs from Ozzfest just to be sure.

The comment went along the lines of "Ozzy has sold more albums in his 26 year solo career than Maiden have in their 30 year career." In truth, that is a stupid comment for three reasons:

1. Maiden, need I tell anyone, has only been recording for 27 years.
2. Ozzy was well established for ten years when he ventured out solo, and
3. Ozzy has released a tirade of very American radio friendly pap, no wonder it sells.

And pushed for a fourth, yes Sharon does now how to exploit Ozzy for all he's worth.

I don't have a clue who Howard Stern is, I have no clue who that fat chick who kept laughing like she had swallowed a hyena is, and I barely have a clue who that ex-Iced Earth drummer is. So why should I care? Moreover, Sharon proved to me she had no clue what she was talking about when she said something about Bruce trying to sing "I take your daughter to the slaughter".

Stern clearly had no idea what he was talking about when he compared Sharon to Carmen Electra. :p

Besides, the whole concept of record sales becomes completely ridiculous when you compare how ridiculed Ozzy is among metalheads (and people in general) and how respected Maiden are.  Money isn't everything, although I doubt $haron realises that...maybe she should marry Lar$

Yeah, that confused me too.  I thought that ozzfest was part of the Early Days tour, which only played songs from the first four albums?  At least, I know that they started with "Ides of March" because I saw that on Youtube.  So why did $haron mention Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter?  (and she even called it by the wrong name)

Answer: It's Maiden's only single that's reached number 1 on UK charts.  She proved that she only knows commercial crap (yes, I think BYD is crap, and perhaps commercial because it sold so well) songs.  Maiden haven't performed that song after 1992 (Fear of the Dark tour?), as far as I'm aware.

EDIT: Okay, I checked right after posting.  I was wrong about it not having been performed after 1992.  From Wikipedia:
The song was the only track from "No Prayer for the Dying" to survive on tours after Bruce Dickinson left Iron Maiden in 1993. More recently however it is rarely aired live; aside from notable appearances in the early summer of 2003.

Hi folks,

I've never posted on any forum ever before but I just had to this time - that clip made me furious!

What makes me angriest is that Ozzy these days is so utterly spineless - he just sits there looking totally embarassed. Talk about under the thumb!

Not that any of it matters at all, really. Maiden rise above - and Ozzy gets lamer and lamer (lets be honest, he hasn't made any records worth a damn since.... errr.... 1975. Or, if you're feeling generous, 1982. At a push).

Bring Your Daughter... wasn't played on that tour; that was one half of what I meant with the statement of Sharon having no clue (the other being her screwing up the lyrics, big time).

And for the record, I disagree with clive. I enjoy Ozzy's stuff up to "No Rest For The Wicked" quite a lot (not so sure if including it, maybe it's still got to grow on me). If you feel you must ignore it, do so, but be aware that you're missing out some pretty good music. And please don't bring this "Ozzy sux, Miadne iz teh r0xx0r" stuff in, that is soo Blabbermouth.

Fair play to you, Perun. I also enjoy those solo records up to a point - but they're not as monumental as most of the Sabbath albums. The solo stuff is basically pop rock in metal clothing. I wouldn't suggest that the Maiden catalogue is 100% perfect either - but neither does it sound like they've spent many, many years being told how to make music by other people.

Anyway, I've registered on here because I love Maiden not because I loathe Ozzy  :) so I'll leave the Blabbermouth stuff alone now!

No worries, mate- each to his own :)
Even I agree that none of Ozzy's solo albums can live up to 'Heaven And Hell'!
