Really hard songs!

Mega

Ancient Mariner
Wolf by Iced Earth - This song has -insane- galloping.
I've been practicing for months(well not really, here and there for months ::)) and I can't play it full speed.
I tried down tuning the way they do, and it's a easier, and I changed my pick to a lighter pick, and I think I made a big progress, but I still need alot of training.

So, what hard songs are you trying to play?

Almost every Rush song. Alex Lifeson chords voicing are totally unorthodox and unpredictable. Not counting the other 2 monsters delivery.

im working on La Villa Strangiato now and its the the hardest Rush song ive ever played

Everything by Iced Earth right now.
I'm trying to play everything in like 75% of the tempo and it's still pretty hard.

Anything by Guthrie Govan

or by Rusty Cooley (the studio version obviously is a better recording, but it's more mind boggling to watch the guy actually play), will do amazing things for your chops.

And of course if you really want to drive yourself nuts trying play insane chord voicings and unplayable lead passages there is always the master, Shawn Lane.

There's also the equally impossible Mediterranean Sundance by DiMeola, McLaughlin, and DeLucia.  Easily faster than anything played by most metal players, and on acoustics to boot, not to mention the ridiculous rhythm and timing involved.

Try it on drums and the guitars are suddenly easy. I can't play both but I know that these drum patterns are way more difficult.

Still this song features one of my favourite Rush solos. Fantastic, what a build-up.
