I can't spot any filler songs on the album, really. It's full of good and interesting music for me. Some tracks are weaker, some are stronger.
 
It's funny to me that you say there are no fillers yet 4 songs get a rating lower than 7.

I'm generally baffled by the reception this album's getting, not just your ratings, so I've been avoiding the discussions about it as it bums me out when people nitpick some stupid details instead of just enjoying the music.

Sonata has slowly grown to be my favourite, but Shadows is not far behind. I see Sonatas faults, but for me its an emotional journey and the more I listen the more I enjoy it. But Shadows is maybe more "flashy" and was my initial favourite and is just right below now. Ressurection Men rounds of the top three, love the atmophere, the chorus, and dont have and problems with the middle part.

Singles Afterglow and Rain is at the bottom for me with Face In The Mirror joining them, feeling as just an decent filler on the second half of the album.

Filler would be anything less than 5 :-) (to me & in my world) :-)

The Ghost rip off stuff are the better tracks. The real If Eternity Should Fail is better than anything on the album.
 
Also, to be fair, I've just given about the first 9 tracks of the Priest album a listen on the commute this morning, and Mandrake Project is a good bit better, much more dynamics and variety.

It turned out to be a strong grower for me indeed. Resurrection Men had ascended to be one my fave tracks of the album yet. However, if I wanna go for Italo Western vibe, I spin my Calexico vinyls. Nothing and nobody like them. They have nothing to do with Metal at all, not even Rock, but they are my 2nd fave band, right after Iron Maiden.

I prefer the first by far! The atmosphere is better than on The Book Of Souls. The instrumental section is better too. Anyone else?

I'm not sure about the atmosphere (maybe only in the intro and with the ''oh-oh'' backing vocals), but I definitely prefer Eternity Has Failed. Why? Because it has solos. Such a big missed opportunity and a strange decision by the band. But we have to say that in the original demo the song was without solos.
Maiden's drumming, galloping and full sound, the prominent melodies (and the melody under the high vocals) and Adrian's guitar licks are missed, but I still prefer Bruce's version, even though his version is a bit slower. He also made cool changes to the lyrics. I like both choruses, the outros too I guess.
