can anybody help?
why the TNOTB spoken intro used on 84/85 and 86/87 tours differs from that original recording of 82 and who had spoken it?
I liked it much much better than the original intro since 1985 when I heard it for the first time on LAD live album.
thanx in advance

From listening to my bootlegs...

84/85 Has a greater echo effect than those I have from 86/87

That may even be down to individual recording and accoustics
Other than that I can see no difference

check the commentary - as always [!--emo&:P--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

you must be daef at all.
intro used for NOTB on WSlaveryTour and Somewhere On Tour is absolutely different recording

Listen to them, Its the same. Its different on different venues because of the acoustics.

Yes, the 'echo' effect

I sometimes have the impression it's played slower, like on a walkman where the batteries are empty. I noticed that on a SIT bootleg. But I am sure it's always the same thing being played- just listen to the way the words are pronounced.

I noticed theres a pre-echo before that line on some bootlegs

ah! I have just listened to a boot from 82 - It IS different, actually I think its just played at normal speed. Will do some investigation

i havent heard anything about this at at all but TRUST me im in MAiden for 20 yearz. intro for NOTB had an absolutely different version on 2 world tours - 84/85 and 86/87.
you can check it out on every bootleg recorded on those 2 tours and compare them w the original recording intro which was/is used for NOTB on every gig except those 2 tours
i cant believe that you havent heard the difference yet!

compare the original intro with the intro on LIVE AFTER DEATH album and tell me thats the same intro.
this different version of intro was also used on SOTour 86/87.

no way
NOTB intro used on Live After Death is totally different than that one on NOTB album
the same intro was used for the 84-85 and 86-86 tours

i gave it a good lsiten. it's the same words, with a very strong effect. The same effect is tob e heard if You play Black And White, while talking to other gods...[!--emo&<_<--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/dry.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'dry.gif\' /][!--endemo--]. It's the exactly same effect

I'd say they just screwed around with the actual original recording. The intonation is the *exact* same as in the NotB recording, just a little slower, therefore, a little deeper. Anyone with access to a recording studio could have done this.

anyway. its not the same intro
but im still convinced thats not only effect over original recording

I Agree with most of you that prolly has something to do with the venue it is being played in...

for all the venues played in 84-87???

The intro on Live after Death is different from the original. Not only the echo, I think the speed is also different. As someone said, playing it slower can make it sound deeper. In fact: try to play the song in media player or whatever you use, and increase the speed a little bit. This makes it sound more like the original.
